Interesting PC with Schiano today. He was questioned heavily about WHY we didn't see much more hurry-up. He basically said: 1). he wanted to run time off the clock with their run game to keep the 49er offense off the field, which a hurry-up doesn't do.     Other comments were:  2). "because we don't practice it very much". And 3). "that's not who we are".     If I was a reporter in that room, I'd have responded:    1). Teams in TODAY's NFL, and in a less spread formation style, since the '60's, have mixed the SHORT pass game with the run game to move the ball vs tougher D'lines and run clock. Teams today ALSO get up to the LOS and run off a lot of clock, THEN throw a quick pass or run. Why is there so little confidence in our short pass game, when we've all seen it actually work under Glennon?? RUNNING CLOCK ACCOMPLISHES NOTHING IF YOU DON'T SCORE. We at least scored using the short pass game.    2). We seem to run it very well with very little practice. Doesn't it make sense to do what's working in a game??    3). Perhaps we need to modify "who we are". Like taking advantage of Glennon's skillset in operating a short pass game instead of continually putting him in a position of scrambling for his life on these longer routes. AS IT IS NOW, the success of our pass game with these longer routes depends on the success of the run game. We live and die by our run game. Or on our QBs ability to SCRAMBLE like Kaepernick, which is very obviously not Glennon's strong suit.     Schiano needs to observe his buddy Belichick's offense more. They incorporate a LOT of run plays; it's not all Brady.

Schiano's dilemma should be whether to retire in New Jersey or in Carolina.

So to sum it up he didn't believe in our defense to stop them. Instead of trying to score on offense he wanted to try not to lose by too much.

"That's not who we are"This quote pretty much sums up Schiano. He's too stubborn and will never change despite his ways obviously not working. He can't come back for another season.

I swear he would rather go down in flames than admit he's wrong and make the necessary adjustments.

Yep. That is who he is. No matter how bad we look out there. He has this idea of how he wants us to play. The bum doesn't coach to our players strengths..

What's sad to me he's very good at finding and developing individual players. His 2 drafts have been stellar.  It's the STRATEGY thing where he seems to have a blind spot...

See this is just wrong, first downs burn clock. It is far better to get first downs and move the ball than to go 3 and out and punt.

I could have sworn that I saw thr Niners chew up over 10 minutes yesterday using runs and short passes....but that won't work for the Bucs.

Schiano is 3 yds and a cloud of dust guy.  He's circa 1978 Steelers.  He's a bad fit in today's NFL.  He'll never be successful on this level.  Hell, he wasn't successful in college either(unless you lower your bar for Rutgers).  Contrary to some people turning a bad program into a mediocre one is NOT SUCCESS and never has been defined as such!!!!!!!!!!

Exactly. Those 3-and-outs were mostly the result of our attempts to run the ball. Schiano seemed to think running clock was more important than getting first downs...

In Schiano's NFL points don't matter its who uses the most clock.
