Sucks we lost Evan Stewart in pregame warm up too. He's our deep threat so OSU was able to make us one dimensional.
Tez Johnson isn’t the big play, deep threat? He’s both fast and quick.
I like both Stewart and Johnson as NFL prospects.
We use Tez for wr screen, check downs, and 3rd down conversions while Stewart goes over the top of the defense.
So basically our offense is elite when they are both out there and middle of the pack when one is missing.
I think they're both solid prospects but Johnson's frame scares me ala Tank Dell.
Would prefer Stewart if we went that route but I'm not sure we should spend any draft capital on wrs before the 3rd round.
Where did Holden fit in? He’s got a higher YPC than Stewart (16.0 to 12.8) by a pretty wide margin with similar receptions and equal TD’s.

I think Holden might be the best value prospect of the 3. He's a gamer but a knucklehead.
He missed like 4 games this year due to spitting incident and then having to work his way back up the depth chart. If he's there in the 5th could be a steal.
I'm guessing Tez and Stewart go 2nd round unless Tez runs a crazy 40.
Holden is the only one who showed up vs OSU.
I understand the frustration, felt similarly after whatever it was Chip & Ryan were trying to do against Michigan.
No worries longterm for Oregon/Lanning (and Phil Knight’s cash), they’ve made sure no one will be forgetting them anytime soon.

They better fix this seeding thing because Georgia came out flat too.
If the bye is supposed to be an advantage then you can't give everyone an advantage of a bye.
They've made conference championship games meaningless.
Georgia lost their starting QB to it while the teams that lost got to rest then play a warm up game.
We knew it was a wonky system but when all 4 bye week teams come out flat it's pretty telling.
Either way, OSU deserved to win no doubt but they got a fix this shit for next year.
If the bye is supposed to be an advantage then you can't give everyone an advantage of a bye.
didnt every bye team lose?

Yes every team with a bye came out flat and lost. 3 weeks off is fucking dumb...
They fucked this playoffs up so bad it's comical... Basically giving every team that lost a second chance and no punishment.
Punished the Ducks with the hardest road by being the one seed. We beat Penn State and they're rewarded with playing SMU and Boise.
Shit is infuriating and then of course my Ducks shit the bed on top of all that.

maybe that is all part of the old school power that be begrudgingly transitioning from the bowl system to expanding playoffs. not sure but agree that a 4 byes losing makes it seem like something is wrong

*Gets out tin foil hat*
What a coincidence they put Ohio State in Oregon's bracket. Literally the last team I wanted to play.
They lost to Michigan and it literally helped them.
Penn State lost to us and it helped them.
And the worst part... The Ducks played so fucking bad I can't really complain.
It's a Ducks life
I can see your point from this spot looking in the tesrview, but I can tell that I was scratching my head that we pulled Tennessee and then Oregon.
From our perspective, Tennessee didn’t exactly look like it was going to be a cakewalk (my perspective is that’s typically reserved for SEC teams).
I do think there were some contractual issues they had to comply with some of the Bowls. It could be argued that the travel to Pasadena was more conducive to Oregon than Ohio State… and maybe that was designed for the bye teams?
We’ve all been hearing there will likely be changes to the format, so your frustrations aren’t off-base.
Subjective, contractual, arbitrary rules that they use to get the most money possible for the teams they want.
Oregon and OSU should have been in opposite brackets.
We've got the 12 and 10 seed as the 3 and 4. Which pushes the actual good teams into stacked brackets.
Wtf is the point of winning the B10 when you pull OSU... When the loser pulls Indiana and Boise?
Isn't that the whole point of being the top seed? You earn the best/easiest path?
I'm sure they'll change it but being jr guinea pigs fucking sucks.
I said it right away that I'd give up the bye week to play SMU and Indiana instead of OSU in the rose bowl (a venue where they have ample experience playing).
Also the Ducks was so woefully unprepared it was comical. Even down to the coin flip. We deferred and put the fucking sun in our eyes.
I'm just beyond frustrated in so many fucking ways.
But that said, OSU played their ass off and dominated so... Fucking sucks
Understand and agree with the brackets - but you know what happens when a committee gets involved…Subjective, contractual, arbitrary rules that they use to get the most money possible for the teams they want.

Absolutely agree that money and matchups were in mind. As a longtime B1G guy, there is a long history of feeling like the selection committee tries to match up a team they think the SEC can beat pretty easily - so my guess is they were trying for an ESPN/SEC partnership-influenced outcome. Maybe they thought Tennessee would beat OSU and hoping that they’d get a Vols/Ducks matchup? Either way, matching it up as they did, they knew they’d get Tennessee v Oregon, or as a consolation, a rematch of OSU/Oregon which was one of the best games of the season.
I always have problems with committees picking these things, but I wouldn’t want a computer picking them either.
Again, there’s some natural frustration because of OSU winning as they did - but you’re spot on that the one thing the brackets were NOT setup according to the way the tournament of 64 would have typically done. Why you would change the format with which everyone WAS familiar - united every fan behind the idea that this was a fail.

That really sucks. Competitive fairness giving way to revenue considerations. Terrible if that is how it happens.

They made damn sure to separate Texas and Georgia.
What's even worse is LAST YEAR we would have been THIS YEAR'S OSU (potentially). We had 2 losses to Washington by a FG. We would have been that sleeper talent team that has a stud QB and is super talented but lost only to rivals (like OSU did with Michigan and Oregon).
So the next year we get the inverse of it and we run the table and we're punished...
It's not like I think it's some conspiracy against Oregon it's just shitty that it worked out this way because we had 2 really good teams.
And I'm certain that has Oregon played OSU later (IE the championship game) we would have played better or even won after getting our momentum and timing back.
And again I don't wanna take anything away from OSU. That's a crazy talented team. But had Michigan lost to them then OSU could have had their revenge game in a meaningless title game instead of the playoffs.
Then we'd have played SMU or what we had found our rhythm.
Either way I'm rooting for OSU even there are some obnoxious fans (not you of course).
Fuck the committee. Fuck college football having 30 years of arbitrary ways to win it all instead of very simple bracketing.

I do have to chuckle when I read stuff like this. Ohio State and Tennessee were ranked 6th and 7th respectively before and after the conference championship games. Where should those teams have been ranked?
The seeding format is what screwed everything up, the rankings by the committee were fine. Without the stupid seeding, these would have been the first round matchups as dictated by the committee:
5 ND vs 12 ASU
6 OSU vs 11 Alabama
7 Tenn vs 10 SMU
8 IU vs 9 Boise St
There was no pro-SEC/anti-B10 bias by the committee. The seeding format is the problem.
@firebowles2023 …don’t kid yourself, I can sometimes fall into the obnoxious fan column, but that kinda depends on the opponent (my wife’s family is from Michigan, so I’ve been a little spicy over the last few Thanksgivings/_ichigan weekend(s) lately).
However, I do like Dan Lanning and the Oregon program, so that probably tempers me a bit…and then there’s the whole Bucky thing…
Oregon fans have nothing but good times ahead, especially in the B1G.
