May be true about the anti-B1G this season… but the ESPN partnership with the SEC has made it hard not to see the influence on previous bowl bracketology/seeding system, etc.As a longtime B1G guy, there is a long history of feeling like the selection committee tries to match up a team they think the SEC can beat pretty easily - so my guess is they were trying for an ESPN/SEC partnership-influenced outcome.
They made damn sure to separate Texas and Georgia.
I do have to chuckle when I read stuff like this. Ohio State and Tennessee were ranked 6th and 7th respectively before and after the conference championship games. Where should those teams have been ranked?
The seeding format is what screwed everything up, the rankings by the committee were fine. Without the stupid seeding, these would have been the first round matchups as dictated by the committee:
5 ND vs 12 ASU
6 OSU vs 11 Alabama
7 Tenn vs 10 SMU
8 IU vs 9 Boise St
There was no pro-SEC/anti-B10 bias by the committee. The seeding format is the problem.
As for the seeding…wonder who comes up with that…?

I would hope the 4 B10 schools in the playoffs, vs 3 SEC, would have squashed it weeks ago.

That’s for the people in the joke-of-a-conference ACC to whine about, not the defending title-holder B10 - with a 50/50 shot to go back-to-back. Don’t play the victim like those pansies.

The same people that will hopefully be changing it this offseason.
Even with Tennessee and Georgia no longer in the playoffs, the SEC still has an opportunity. We’ll be doing our best to knock the last SEC representative out of this round.
It is interesting that the media has to be uncharacteristically, kind, to B1G this season, again.
Im not complaining, kinda got used to having the underdog chip on our shoulders. Texas/Sark will be doing everything they can to make this a tough game, little home cookin’ won’t hurt either. Hopefully it’s true that their offense will really isn’t as explosive as Oregon’s this season, and their defense isn’t Michigan’s.
I like our chances.
I like our chances.
Agreed - assuming your boys play like they did the last two games. I think Sark will have to go Manning, at least on a drive here and there, to have a chance.
If they play like they did vs. Michigan, Texas will stomp them.
@firebowles2023 …don’t kid yourself, I can sometimes fall into the obnoxious fan column, but that kinda depends on the opponent (my wife’s family is from Michigan, so I’ve been a little spicy over the last few Thanksgivings/_ichigan weekend(s) lately).
However, I do like Dan Lanning and the Oregon program, so that probably tempers me a bit…and then there’s the whole Bucky thing…
Oregon fans have nothing but good times ahead, especially in the B1G.
We'll be good for sure but it won't matter until we win it all. It's that simple.
Winning the B10 is cool and all but I'd easily trade it to be where you are...
5 ND vs 12 ASU
6 OSU vs 11 Alabama
7 Tenn vs 10 SMU
8 IU vs 9 Boise St
This is exactly what it should be (sans Bama being ranked too high) . Oregon would play IU/BS winner. Then we'd play the 4 seed etc.
Not sure why they thought it prudent to make these rules.
With NIL the parity of the game will spread to other schools in due time. May take a few years. But the era of one team winning it 4 of 7 years, are over. Funny to see the SEC honks getting bent. That said, I do think Texas wins this thing. Their defense is stout enough to finish this off. Penn State and Notre Dame just aren’t in the other bracket’s class.

I think ND can win but I'm picking OSU.
Anyone but PSU has a chance
