It seems to be a waste. His size isn't the issue but the fact that that NT spot doesn't generate a lot of production...by design. That guy is basically being used to allow the other 3 dudes on the line to run free. When you are trying to deploy a decoy the goal isn't the deploy a high value asset to be the decoy.

So putting Nick Fairley next to Suh was a waste? Sure seems like it works well to me. If they hadn't replaced Cliff Avril with 93 year old Israel Idonije...they'd probably have been the best pass rushing D-line in the NFL.

Different scheme IIRC where no one is the nose, they are playing both DT's straight up most of the time. The idea of two good DT's isn't bad, it isn't good for how we use the two of them.
Detroits defense is nothing I go to sleep at night having nightmares about.Put Watt next to Suh and I probably would.

How do we know what Lovie intends to do? With a $16M/yr shut down man corner, he will obviously not be running the same exact 4-3 he ran in Chicago. Perhaps there is no need for a conventional NT.
Outside of Clowney who won't be an option for us I don't see any DEs worth drafting in the first half of round 1.
If only we played a scheme like the one in which Brad Culpepper managed 8.5 and 9 sack seasons.

+1
As far as the "too small" label. This is what he did to the biggest OL at the Senior Bowl today. (Cyril Richardson 6'4" 343lbs considered the 3rd best OG in the draft)
Wow. Donald ate Cyril's lunch. Once he got under him, it was over.
Just saw....Derek Carr is only 6'2 now ? ...what a bum...
NOBODY eats Cyril's lunch but him, and he probably has 4 of them.
Did anyone previously discuss Trent Murphy being a bit on the light side?
jdub did FRG
JDouble, i told you last week to wait senior bowl for DT's Aaron Donald and Ra'Shede Hageman draft grades!IMO Louis Nix, Ra'Shede Hageman & Aaron Donald(UT 43) Top 10-25 pickTimmy Jernigan(UT 43) Top 25-40Stephon Tuitt (34 DE) for now is a 2nd round pick, but have to wait the combine...after that, guy like Will Sutton(could go udfa), Dominique Easley, Kelcy Quarles, Justin Ellis, Caraun Reid, DaQuan Jones, Anthony Johnson, Ego Ferguson, Daniel McCullers, Georges Uko, Deandre Coleman are 3rd/5th round pick
