Greg Bedard from SI/MMQBNotes that caught my eye concerning players/positions that may help our BuccaneersThere are all different types of receivers to be had, as you could see from the Senior Bowl. From BYU’s Cody Hoffman (6-4, 218) to Wyoming’s Robert Herron (5-9, 193) it’s kind of pick your flavor at the receiver position, which has undeniably been enhanced over the years with the rise in the passing game on the college level. I fell in love with Clemson T/G Brandon Thomas when he handled South Carolina DE Jadeveon Clowney largely one-on-one this season. That continued this week. His smart, savvy and tough play reminds me a bit of future Hall of Fame guard Brian Waters. Thomas just knows how to play.At 6-7, 331 pounds and with quick feet, Miami OT Seantrel Henderson has always looked the part of a franchise left tackle, but he’s never put it altogether. NFL teams have their doubts whether he ever will, but it’s hard to overlook the natural talent.Carr was, by far, the best quarterback prospect in Mobile. Not sure if he’s a franchise quarterback, but his compact delivery and background both under center and in the shotgun make him intriguing.Keep an eye on Washington State safety Deone Bucannon. He’s built like a physical safety and plays with a nasty edge.
If Carr slipped a little in the draft and we wnt in another direction at #7 I would not be opposed to maybe moving up into the mid to late 20's for him.
Quarterbacks-Jimmy Garoppolo edged Derek Carr for quarterback of the day on the South squad. Garoppolo has the quickest set-up and release of all the Senior Bowl quarterbacks, which is actually an advantage and a disadvantage in an all star setting. He doesn’t get ideal depth in his drop backs (a very fixable issue). That affected the timing with his receivers during the first half of practice. However, he adapted and by the time 7-on- 7’s were underway, he’d established much better timing with his wideouts.-Derek Carr’s velocity, especially in the gusty wind, was once again impressive. When it comes to arm strength, he really has no competition on among the South QB contingent. Carr also looked very athletic in an escape drill in which quarterbacks must drop back and spin out of trouble before rolling out and hitting a 12-yard out on the move. His habit of dropping his back shoulder and fading away, however, was magnified in this drill. His accuracy inconsistencies stem from these types of mechanical issues that have plagued him for much of his college career.-David Fales had quite the challenge as the wind affected his accuracy a bit more than the other quarterbacks. Fales is an above average athlete but next to Carr and Garoppolo, he moves noticeably slower in everything he does. Much credit goes to Fales for competing this week, but it’s not exactly an ideal set up for a guy whose timing, touch and anticipation are his best throwing qualities.
**Fresno State Derek Carr has been the "buzz" player of the week, maybe the best offensive player at the Senior Bowl. It may be best to pump the brakes a bit, though. I asked five people if they'd use "a top 10 or 12 pick" on Carr and here are the responses I got."No.""No.""No.""Possibly. Ask me in April.""Not if I wanted to keep my GM job, no."
"His arrow is pointing way up," one scout said of Garoppolo. "That buzz is real."
Good thread...

It won't be long until the NFL bans hits on QB's.
I highly recommend ignoring David Carr's experience in the NFL in evaluating Derek Carr. See for example:Carson Palmer v. Jordan PalmerAaron Rodgers v. Jordan RodgersJose Canseco v. Ozzie CansecoJason Giambi v. Jeremy Giambi

Good post
The buzz this week about Carr has been his penchant for staying after practice and throwing for an extra 20 minutes with Vanderbilt wide receiver Jordan Matthews. In my 11 years of covering the Senior Bowl I’ve never seen a quarterback turn down the post-practice interview session time with NFL scouts and media members to do that, and it’s made quite a favorable impression on the NFL scouting community. The 6-foot-2, 219-pound Garoppolo has shown he belongs among the top college quarterbacks during the past two weeks. He completed 66 percent of his passes while throwing for 5,050 yards with 53 touchdowns with just nine interceptions as a senior.“My biggest strength is my knowledge of the game,” Garoppolo said. “I’m a football geek. I really like learning about football and about schemes, and also about defenses and how to beat them. Obviously, the physical stuff, too. The quick release is something I have been trademarked with.”Pittsburgh defensive tackle Aaron Donald has been the star of the Senior Bowl since blowing up Baylor’s massive Cyril Richardson, who at 6-foot-4, 343 pounds, is believed to be the best guard prospect this year, on Monday in 1-on-1 drills. Despite being 6-foot, 285 pounds, Donald has been unblockable at the Senior Bowl and has seen his stock rise from the second round to the late first round – and possibly even higher.
David Carr would have been a superstar if he wasn't drafted onto that expansion team, or atleast sat a year while they put the rest of the team together.

No, he was never gonna be good. Everyone talks about the beating he took but no other QB they stuck behind that line got sacked as much as he did. The reason he got sacked so much is because of David Carr. He was like Robo here who got sacked at a ferociously high rate.
Lmao all you need to know about JCs footba knowledge. He used David Carr and superstar in the same sentence. Him, luke mccown, Stovall, and Freeman just never got a fair chance to prove their HOF talent
