That's the only way I can describe the past two weeks. And sadly, when I heard the broadcast team at the start of the game say that they kept hearing the word "playoffs" from everyone they talked to on the Buccaneers squad, I absolutely KNEW for certain that they were about to be embarrassed on prime time again. I was certain -- beyond a doubt -- that this team was about to lose to the Rams.Yeah, as fans hoping for our team to get to the playoffs is in our DNA. But there's "hope" and there's reality. In reality, this team isn't ready yet. The offense is coming along and has some talent, the team finally has a strong leader and very capable QB, but as I've said for quite some time, the defense just doesn't have the talent yet.We need help on the front four to get pressure on the passer without having to blitz. We need all of our starting LB's in the lineup (there's no depth there, clearly). We need a serious upgrade in talent in the secondary. The playoffs would have been great, of course. But I said going in that we should expect six wins this season and that would be considered a success as long as we could see some flashes from our franchise QB. Clearly he's shown that. Year Two in his development will be a real measuring stick of where we, as fans, expect this kid to take this team.Six wins, I said, would be enough... for now. Having our kid QB look so good at times fooled me into believing more was possible. What can I say? I'm a fan. I want it all and I want it now.But that's just not reality. Young teams squander opportunities. It's what they do. It hurts, but it's usually just a matter of fact.Disappointment. Serious disappointment.
