I really wish the Bucs tried to deploy White like Parsons. Bowles insists he's a LB though and his contract is expiring soon. After last year, there's now way you can say he deserves an extension.

Yeah I think Parsons is like 3" taller and 10-15 pounds heavier. Plus he has played DE since HS days so its a natural fit for him full time.

Imagine being a NFL coach moving a players position to one he's never played before at ANY level HS, college or NFL. Imagine thinking because someone can run through gaps untouched to get to the QB by the product of his DL he'd be able to win on the edge 1v1. Couldn't be me

The responsibility of OLB to ILB isn't as different as MLB to DE. Plus, Lavonte David is next-level mentally on the football field.  Devin White isn't.

For the record, I posed the question about moving White from MLB to full-time pass rusher as well. I agree it's worth trying out on the practice field, but it's not the easy transition you're making it out to be. Maybe he can, maybe he can't.

I think we all agree its worth a shot seeing if he could work out there bc we need some EDGE presence badly. I just know speed alone isn't going to get it done in space. You need some technique to really be effective on the outside. OP is under the assumption that because White ran a 4.42 at the combine he could just blow past 6'6 really athletic tackles that are just as agile as White, and even stronger/bigger.

Full-time pass rusher on the LOS. We're playing semantics. He would be moving from and off-the-ball MLB to playing on the LOS as a stand-up pass-rusher, going against OT's one-on-one the majority of the time. It's a completely different position. Maybe he could do it, but - again - it's not the simple transition you are making it out to be. It's nothing like moving David from a 4-3 OLB to a 3-4 ILB.  Those responsibilities aren't that different at all, and with a really smart player in David - the transition was seamless.

And, because you aren't capable, you continue to add zero value to the discussion.

GMs sometimes do dumb second contracts to avoid the second-guessing of the pick, but hard to imagine the Bucs paying White after games like the  "I'd ask for the C off your chest" game.  That was White with the big contract still hanging out there in the future.
