The responsibility of OLB to ILB isn't as different as MLB to DE. Plus, Lavonte David is next-level mentally on the football field.  Devin White isn't.

For the record, I posed the question about moving White from MLB to full-time pass rusher as well. I agree it's worth trying out on the practice field, but it's not the easy transition you're making it out to be. Maybe he can, maybe he can't.

 

Don't say DE. You know the DE's in this system are guys like Gholston, Suh, Hicks, Hall. You know I'm talking about walking him out, keeping him stood up and letting him use his speed to play in space. 

 

Full-time pass rusher on the LOS. We're playing semantics. He would be moving from and off-the-ball MLB to playing on the LOS as a stand-up pass-rusher, going against OT's one-on-one the majority of the time. It's a completely different position. Maybe he could do it, but - again - it's not the simple transition you are making it out to be. It's nothing like moving David from a 4-3 OLB to a 3-4 ILB.  Those responsibilities aren't that different at all, and with a really smart player in David - the transition was seamless.

And, because you aren't capable, you continue to add zero value to the discussion.

GMs sometimes do dumb second contracts to avoid the second-guessing of the pick, but hard to imagine the Bucs paying White after games like the  "I'd ask for the C off your chest" game.  That was White with the big contract still hanging out there in the future.

2. I didn't say full time pass rusher. One of his strengths is tracking down ball carriers between the hash and sideline. I said in the original post he can play curl flat and man. 

3. I never said it was simple. But after 4 years he's clueless at MLB and we're down bad at Edge. Something has to change or we have no chance. 

4. I brought up the David example because some idiot made it same like you can never change a players position. There's countless other examples within the Bucs of players moving around. Marpet played center, Ronde played FS, they even tried to moving Jermaine Phillips to LB. But god forbid our bust MLB, who is only good at blitzing and tracking on the sideline, move 6 feet over so he can blitz and play hash to sideline.

As stated on page 1, Dallas moved Parson from ILB to OLB. Is that better for you? And if White can be just half as productive as Parsons and we get an average ILB to replace White then the defense will be significantly better. Does that help your low IQ thinking understand the move?

If we're going to move him, it needs to be off the team.

The difference between a 4-3 DE and 3-4 OLB is negligible.  A 3-4 OLB is a stand-up full-time pass-rusher.

You're advocating he play Edge -  the same position as Shaq Barrett, JPP, Anthony Nelson, etc.. All of those guys are playing against OL 90+% of the time. He's not going to be playing curl flat and man very often at that position.

Agreed. But he may actually be a bigger liability at Edge if he can't hold up at the POA.  That's what Detrimental and I are talking about. Maybe he could do it, and I actually thing he could because he's a freak athlete. But the possibility that he couldn't does exist. You should acknowledge that point.

Again, Marpet moving along the iOL isn't a big deal.  Every team in the NFL have swing interior offensive linemen.  Ronde, another extremely smart player, going from CB to FS is nothing for a player like Ronde. Even moving Phillips from S to LB isn't the same kind of responsibility jump that MLB to Edge is. I'm pretty sure you know this. Not why you are acting as if these position changes are equal.
