Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman said this week that perceptions of a feud with Buccaneers cornerback Darrelle Revis over which one was the best corner in football were fabricated by the media. Those two might be getting along like peanut butter and jelly these days, but others are still batting around the question of which one is the best. During an appearance on SiriusXM Mad Dog Sports Radio with Evan Cohen and Steve Phillips, Eagles running back LeSean McCoy said he liked Sherman but would prefer Revis on the Eagles.“I would take Darrelle Revis, he’s better,” McCoy said. “If you watch Darrelle Revis’ tape, and you take Sherman, it’s not even close.”McCoy explained that he thought Sherman would be “too much” in the locker room because he felt the Seahawks corner promoted himself a bit too much. It probably didn’t hurt that Revis shares an alma mater with McCoy either, although the fact that Eagles aren’t likely to be in position to acquire either player anytime soon makes it a fairly moot point. That doesn’t mean we won’t be looking for someone to bring it up again next season when the Eagles host the Seahawks, though.
I already liked Shady, like him even more now.
This nonsense will get put to rest when Sherman takes a big money contract out of Seattle and then everyone sees it was a little bit more scheme than it was him. Guy can def play, but when both are healthy, Revis is better.
Seattle plays a lot of zone. If Sherman had to lock on to someone the entire game, this wouldn't even be a discussion. He doesn't have the same impact as Revis does. IMO, Sherman isn't even the best player in that secondary. I think Earl Thomas is and most Seahawk fans agree with me. His range and quickness is ridiculous. It's sad not many people talk about him because he doesn't act like a baffoon.
Sherman is without a doubt a baller but I agree that he is just a part of an outstanding and complete secondary. People know about him because of his mouth. I bet that if Browner talked as much as Sherman (and wasn't suspended) and Sherman was quiet, we wouldn't even know much about Sherman (although his stats are damn good).

+1
If Sherman were a Buc, you fellas would be tripping over yourselves expounding on his greatness. They are both amazing corners...why should it be necessary to have one significantly greater than the other?

Exactly! You know, Joe Montana was on NFLN today and Peyton Manning was mentioned. Shortly thereafter, the NFLN crew asked Montana who the best QB of all time was, his response (paraphrased): It's hard to say, it is a different time and the rule changes have certainly affected the game today as compared to when I used to play...... And even when you compare the time that I played in to the era before that, the rules changes over the decades have made producing on offense easier and easier as time has progressed. So, you know, its hard to say who the best player of all time is or was. Even looking at one specific era, its hard to say that someone is 'the best'. There are so many players that are great and there are so many different things about each of those players that makes them great so it is hard to put them all together and pick one individual player out and say 'he is the best'. And I think some people's perception gets skewed when a certain player wins more championships than another person. Its great for a team to have won several championships but individually speaking its different. Think of how many players there are out there who have been on a Superbowl winning team that you have never heard of, does that make them better than lets say Barry Sanders or Dan Marino? I don't think so.

Bingo. Earl Thomas makes that secondary quite honestly. Nothing against Sherman but if he didn't have the best safety in football helping him, he wouldn't be as great as he is. I do disagree with you though about Thomas not getting recognition. He's brought up and talked about a ton around the league and has received plenty of recognition for his play.
Revis can honestly play any CB spot. Sherman is an exclusive outside CB all day and would get destroyed if he was to line up at nickel. Not only that Sherman is a penalty flag waiting to happen. Revis is more technique sound and while he isn't the complete ballhawk Sherman is, he also doesn't get flagged as much or play as aggressive.
Kam Chancellor isn't exactly a scrub either.Sherman and Revis don't even play that similarly.
Boom !!
Sherman talks a lot of game. But the next time he has an opportunity to sign a contract with the hawks, he better sign even if it's less than what he wants. Because if he goes elsewhere, he's going to be in for a very rough reality check.

Thomas is relative to his peers the better player. He is the very rare type of S that actually deserves to be picked high or paid a lot unlike the 2 sacks of rocks we have on our roster. The notion that they play zone makes him a worse CB is wrong. They play a cover 3 scheme and functionally that means that Sherman is covering man in the deep third and doesn't have help over the top.

You think Barron is a sack of rocks ? .....seriously ? ::)
