Tampa not picking up his 15 mil option
at that price I don’t blame them
was big for our sb run.
was a massive steal his first few years
Hasn’t been the same shaq as of late
someone will pay him
yeah a necessary move. Awesome player for us but has been butt cheeks the last couple years and just not worthy of a starting spot on our team.
wish him the best but time for new blood at that position. We need to be able to get to the QB
Chance we bring him back at a lower rate but I see him getting 10+ mil elsewhere.
same with Devin white. He won’t be back either as someone will offer him more.

Whew! (flicks sweat off brow with right finger).
Love Shaq the person and the player he used to be. The player he is now, and was this last 2 years, he’s a waste of a roster spot and a ridiculous contract. Agree that it’s time to move on.
huge thanks for what he brought to this team.

in what way, dude was huge in our 2020 Super Bowl run
that defense came alive in that run and Shaq was all over the field against KC
Shaq was never the 19 sack guy but he was a 10 sack guy and unfortunately that injury in 2022 derailed his career, similar to what happened to JPP in 2021. They both were just never the same and father time got them.
if we had to do it all over again, i would take the Shaq experience again. Wouldn't you? i mean we've made the playoffs damn near every year he's been with us sans 2019. and while he was not existent maybe the last 2 years, he was pretty impactful his first 3 years with the team and 2020 and 2021 were the best 2 year stretch in this franchise's history.

He played on the tag in 2020. I was against him getting the long term deal because he was only a contract year production pass rusher. This contract goes in the Marcus Jones pile.

This is about as logical as White Tiger claiming Baker Mayfield is the #1 FA QB.
You wanted to trade Barrett after 2019. The 2020 Superbowl win probably doesn't happen if you get your way. Very glad Licht did do that nonsense. It's a shame he was injured, but injuries happen.

I was against the long term deal, not the tag. And he was ineffective in 2022 before he tore his Achilles. I was right.
i mean yes it turned out not to be a good contract but did the Bucs really have a choice?
Coming off a Superbowl win, and one where the defensive front 7 dominated, how would they not bring back Shaq Barrett?
it's like arguing "captain hindsight" that the Ryan Jensen contract was bad. Of course it was but given that Brady was unretiring, are you seriously not going to bring back his center or his favorite running back Lenny Fournette? Of course not. those are forgone conclusions.
it's contracts like Russell Gage or choosing Akiem Hicks over Suh that make you scratch your head. But even fan favorites like Suh and JPP turned out to be cooked post Tampa anyway.
It's hard to argue with Jason Licht's performance the last several years. Sure - some draft picks and signings that didnt work out but this team somehow making the playoffs post Brady was a thing of beauty. It's something we take for granted given the 3 year Brady experiment but let us know forget just how shit this franchise is and maybe just maybe Gruden's "the future is bright" comment was 2 decades in the making.

Don't attempt to rewrite history, as it won't work. I mean, I understand why you would want to amend that take. You wanted to trade him after his 2019 season, and thankfully Licht didn't do what you wanted him to do. There may not be another Lombardi sitting in OBP if you were the GM.
You're not fooling anybody here.

The majority of the Barrett discussion on here was post Super Bowl before he signed that stupid contract. You're trying to weasel your way out of an embarrassing end of a lengthy debate. I layed out of the examples of what the Barrett contract was going to be: Marcus Jones, Ray Edwards, Michae Johnson, Albert Haynesworth. You and a bunch of other people don't me I was wrong. Well guess what, I wasn't.

Holy shit, he actually is trying to rewrite history and jumping right over the offseason following his breakout 2019 season. You remember that offseason, where you were trying to convince everyone that tagging Shaq was stupid and that trading him for a massive haul was the prudent move.

I don't recall - how many of those guys had a sack and 4 QB hits vs. Patrick Mahomes in a Superbowl-winning performance?
You and a bunch of other people don't me I was wrong. Well guess what, I wasn't.
You were then and are now, with your attempt at rewriting history. You're lucky this board is an enormous piece of shit, or you would have three dozen of your quotes advocating for Shaq's trade shoved down your throat.
