did he literally just unretire to play a few games? i know he wants to play in 2025
wonder if the Bucs sign him as depth piece
I'm all for this. Float him to the PS as needed
He’s done guys. Unless you have a Time Machine to 2019, hard pass

I would agree but wondering why he’d unretire for a few games. Wonder if they had any discussions on 2025 to do that? Looks like not.

Define "done"? I don't think he's got a lot in the tank per se but leadership and depth at a weak position isn't the worst thing to have.

leadership leadership blah blah blah. This team has coaches to coach and captains to lead. We don’t need more cheerleaders.
if he can play, I’d say sure. But at this point I’d rather have JTS back and that’s saying a lot

He’s done as in he’s not an NFL player anymore

damn, JTS. that's saying a lot. Wonder if he makes the Cleveland Browns this year.
no doubt Shaq likely shot i just can't imagine he retired to play 1 regular season game.
the hope is that Yaya, Reddick, and Nelson are definitely better than him. Question becomes if Braswell or Walker are more effective. Rather give the young guys reps for sure but this might be a situation where if they dont show anything in pre-season that Shaq gets a call during the year
Braswell got a strip sack vs Carolina and the next week they gave Barrett his reps. Did absolutely nothing

yeah no doubt they should be giving the younger guys reps
not sure, but they probably thought Shaq could help a playoff run but the guy hasn't been good since 2021

Have you played organized sports? This is an insane take.

yeah...i mean it was definitely Byron Leftwich's leadership on offense and not Brady, Gronk, Evans, Godwin, Jensen, Marpet, etc
Similar on defense...have you heard of Todd Bowle's rally cry. Move aside Vea, Suh, JPP, and David.....
The real leadership has to come from the best players. Sure the depth guys can have an impact on the locker room, but once a guy is on the downswing I don't think he pulls as much weight just because he's a high character guy. When the star players are winning games and also setting examples for professionalism and selflessness that is when it's really meaningful. That's why Licht drafted Egbuka - because he already knows what it takes to be a professional when it comes to preparation. Everybody loves Lavonte David - but he is still able to make plays after all these years. Once he is sitting on the bench nobody is going to give a shit about his leadership. Thats the hard and cold truth. If the Bucs signed Jameis Winston to be the backup QB and he's waving a towel and eating Ws on the sidelines he'll just be a laughing stock because he's not the starter. The leadership has to come from the best players and that isn't going to be a guy like Barrett who might get in for a dozen plays or something. He’s done guys. Wtf is the point you think you're making here?
Lefty was a COACH.
I'm talking about player leadership. PLAYER.
You think Shaq Barrett would be a team leader if he's fighting for a roster spot? I just don't think so. Of course he would be respected for his past accomplishments, but that's not the same as being a team leader.Once he is sitting on the bench nobody is going to give a shit about his leadership.
Again wut
