He needs to be taken out on pass rush downs, he’s not himself anymore. He needs to lose the weight and regain the burst for next year. He’s made a ton of money and will be here next year cause of contract structure, but it’s his time to have his role regressed for young blood. We have Watts and diaby for the edge now

He might be, he’s def gotten fat since his first year here, might be coaches wanted him for run game but the money is for the sacks

I do agree a rotation would help Shaq.  Keep in mind he came back from a devastating injury and it took Godwin a while to return to his former self.

Zero disrespect to him. Tough injury

Each level of our defense is missing a former key contributor.

Yeah, he is very likeable guy and cant thank him enough for our Superbowl winning defense but his best days are behind him

he is not worth the $14M cap hit next year

same goes with Russell Gage at $13M and Joe Tryon at $12.57

not sure what cap maneuvering can be done but all three should be off the roster next year.

The way we restructured Shaq hes guaranteed his money and spot next year the best we can have him do is adapt into a passrush specialist while letting the other guys get playing time while hes there to still guide and lead. Gage is gone and JTS has 1 more year on his rookie contract so he'll have 1 more opportunity

Saw this coming years ago. This a historical pattern for pass rushers that could have easily been predicted. Licht loaded it with void years to boot.

Don't know if Bucs can get out of the Gage contract if he can't pass a physical, depends on the language.

He had 3 sacks and 6 QB hits in 8 games before getting hurt in 2022. He was not playing well.

Unsurprisingly, the QBP's are absent...

He was fine. Was he as good as 2019? No. Did he lack the explosion that we are seeing this year? No. You comically act as if Shaq got fat and lazy after signing his contract (which is what you "saw coming years ago") and that simply didn't happen. A Superbowl win happened, after you wanted to trade him following the 2019 season. And then a torn achilles happened.

Barrett had four sacks in the NFC Championship and Superbowl. Thank God he wasn't traded after the 2019 season.

He was on the tag in 2020. My whole premise was not give him an extension. I want blue chip pass rushers or contract year pass rushers. Barrett was always a contract year pass rusher disguised as a blue chip pass rusher.  I told you what would happen when he got the extension. You said I was wrong then. It happened and you say I'm wrong now. Tough pill to swallow that I was 100% right.

I would have had Josh Allen (blue chip) on the roster anyway.

No, you wouldn’t have.

The year before, you were pounding the table to give away multiple 1st rounders to move up and draft Chubb.

So, you would not have had the opportunity. 🤷‍♂️

Partially correct. Your premise was to trade him after 2019 when he value was highest, before tagging him and winning the Superbowl in 2020. Everybody here understands why you're running from that now.
