Is the idea of the Bucs drafting a quarterback being shot down in flames? So Burrow, Tua, Herbert are top ten. There is a Love buzz going on. He might be top ten even leapfrogging Herbert. Now about Jacob Eason...
First of all I was wondering why Eason wasn't listed by PR on the interview list. Are the Bucs already opting out? And apparently Eason didn't do well in those interviews anyway. He seems to have something to be desired above the neck. Larry Brown Sports reports comments by McShay that Eason was not impressive in the interviews.
McShay said of Eason. “He has it in him. Then I studied the tape of his last five games, and it was up and down, up and down — inconsistent. Then I talked to a couple of people I really trust with quarterbacks in the last 48 hours, and the meetings are not going well.” McShay was then asked what sort of negative things he’s hearing about Eason, and both he and Riddick offered insight.
“He has more questions to answer about mental makeup, commitment, consistency,” Riddick said.
McShay shared the feedback he’s received from those who met with Eason at the Combine.
“He was too comfortable. He thought that he owned the room. He doesn’t understand the magnitude of all this.”
Eason doesn't seem to be checking the boxes. Fromm and Gordon don't have the passing ability. No thanks on Hurts unless you are going to make him a Swiss Army knife player. I didn't see any of those guys on the Bucs interview list either. I'd be interested to find out which QBs the Bucs actually talked to in the end.
Basically all that's left for the Bucs is to use a Day 3 pick on somebody who the odds are will never take a regular season snap in the NFL. Montez? Stanley? Sorry if I don't sound excited.
