Kim Klement-USA TODAY SportsIt's the offseason, and that means we're seeing rankings. Rankings, rankings, and more rankings. The latest: Andy Benoit ranking every quarterback for The MMQB. We want to know where Jameis Winston lands, even if it's a largely meaningless exercise. The answer: the Tampa Bay Buccaneers starting quarterback ranks 26th.That's behind Alex Smith, Blake Bortles, Derek Carr (!!!!), Andy Dalton, Colin Kaepernick and Jay Cutler. Now hey, I know we're all going to be skeptical of rookie quarterbacks at all times, and that's certainly justified a lot of the time, but this is a bit much. Jay Cutler's barely hanging on to his job, while Derek Carr showed some promise last year but was hardly blowing people away -- his 5.5 yards per attempt were historically terrible.Amusingly, Benoit ranked Marcus Mariota 30th -- behind Josh McCown, which I'm fairly sure isn't right given how poorly McCown played last year.So who did Winston actually beat out? Geno Smith, Brian Hoyer, McCown, Mariota, Robert Griffin III and Matt Cassel. That's it. That's not a very distinguished list and honestly, if your highly-drafted quarterback didn't manage to do better than those guys you'd have a potentially massive bust on your hands. Rookies can struggle, certainly, but there's usually a minimal bar they manage to clear, and that bar is mounted a couple of feet above McCown's head.At the end of this year, Winston won't be ranked 26th and Benoit's ranking will look somewhat ludicrous.
