Otton is a JAG.

Can replace him in the draft.

He's barely a JAG. Get the comp pick

what would that be?

JQ;s comment on the draft option

"If your answer is finding Otton’s replacement in the draft. That’s a big resource to replace a complete player. Likely a first- or second-rounder. In the last three years, only one tight end drafted outside of the first round has stepped in as a rookie and played at a high level as a complete player. That was Chargers tight end Oronde Gadsden II."

Otton is sort of middle of the pack and he does both things which give the offense versatility.  Not that easy to replace

How every will we replace his average blocking, below average production, drops, and 2 interceptions he hands the other team?

You gotta say Otton caught the ball in some tough spots.  Nobody catches them all, but he usually did and usually he was getting hit pretty good.  He certainly isn't flashy and he isn't a Mack Truck.  He wasn't great, but he was pretty dependable.

Otton has done some good for us but honestly, those two INTs he gifted this year, i mean dude, they were so pathetic that it honestly has done it in for him as his time as a Buc.

We need to get that loser moment out of the locker room.

I am sure he is a good teammate, but he's just gotta go for that man.

He's not good. He's been surrounded by players drawing attention and double teams yet he does nothing with it

Well yes, how? That is the question.

The question doesn't imply that Otton is great. It only implies that he is a TE who does both things for the Bucs currently and he does so at an average (15th or so) level.yes how do you replace him in 2026 if he goes elsewhere AND keeping in mind the other needs on the team? You're not going to use a 1st or 2nd pick on TE right?

What if you can sign him for a one year 8 million deal?

I think that is the point of the "point/counterpoint" article. Hes not useless and the team goes backward if you go with any TE currently on the roster because neither block and catch, so what would be the plan?

I can easily name 25 TEs better than him. He isn't average. He's below average. Well below average.

What's funny our other 2 TEs are not good either but I don't think there's a huge drop off. We could get away with Culp and use the 8m on defense. This draft has a bunch of good TEs too.

Send Otton packing. Get a 5th round comp pick. Bye

Eagles fan thinks Otton might follow Grizz

Tight End Cade Otton

Cade Otton only makes sense if the Eagles move on from Dallas Goedert because there's no way in heck Philadelphia is paying both players. The Eagles' top three tight ends from last season are all slated to hit the open market, so the Birds will want to keep a running tally of everyone available.

Send Otton packing

My God!

How in the world would we ever be able to replace his greatness?

You don't have to replace his greatness.  You have to replace his averageness BUT as both a blocker and receiver

And you have to do so when you also need defensive help.

If he was that easy to replace then Culp or Durham would've already over taken him, but neither block as well (which says something bad about them lol) and the blocking role is pretty critical in a Coen offense:

""He's got a knack for the game – he just knows the game," said Liam Coen, the Buccaneers' first-year offensive coordinator. "He has a great feel. So many of those guys would just say that he's a football player. That's Cade and you can't say that about everybody. He just has that ability. Sometimes people look at that as a knock – maybe they're not as fast or as quick or as strong or can jump as high. Being a football player is a darn good thing and that's what he is. He's tough as nails, he's smart as heck, and I'd love for my son to grow up to be Cade Otton. That's the kind of guy that he is."

***

So far, Otton has been on the field for 93% of the Bucs' offensive snaps in 2024, the most by any of the team's skill-position players.

"He's out there every time," said Coen. "We try to get him a blow, but we're also designing, getting him involved a lot more. It's a great thing for him, for me, for our offense to know that we've got another guy we can rely on to make plays. He's gaining a ton of confidence. I don't know where he stands with his career and where he's been at in normal years – I don't know – but I have to believe he's probably feeling pretty good about where he's at right now and the way he's playing."

If Robinson runs a similar run style then they may keep Otton

Durham is total trash. Culp could be a solid backup but his blocking is not good.

Otton is better than them but that speaks to Licht's ability to assess TEs (poor) more than Otton being anywhere close to average.

They all stink. Tallest midget

And, he graded out better than Otton this past season.

Kieft is the only one I'd keep.

Draft Otton's replacement in the middle rounds (or dumpster diving in FA).

Otton was a 4th round pick and he is an average TE (receiving) who also blocks.  In his draft hasnt he class he's outperformed 2 of the 3 guys picked before him?  Thats a "win" for a GM and why he might potentially leave for more than the Bucs would pay him.

that . . and they need a TE lmao

Durham is cheaper and just as good of a blocker.  Bucs need to find a TE that can stretch the field.

if that part in bold is true, Otton is already gone.

In an earlier post I said that Otton is a second TE and I meant to a greater offensive threat ("TE that can stretch the field")
