Free agent OG Evan Mathis expects to begin serious contract talks with teams "in a week or two."Mathis expects negotiations with potential suitors to "ramp up" as training camp approaches. "Exactly what my options are aren’t as clear as they will be in a week or two," Mathis said. The Miami Herald reports the Dolphins have "at least some degree of interest" in Mathis, but most NFL decision makers are currently on vacation. Training camps open in a week and a half. Jul 15 - 8:31 PMSource: Miami Herald In a radio interview, agent Drew Rosenhaus said, "There are 10 teams that have expressed bona fide interest in signing [free agent G Evan Mathis].""I can tell you that this deal will happen at any time or it may still take between now and training camp to get it done," Rosenhaus continued. "There are several teams that are in the mix right now, and we don't want to discourage anybody from pursuing it." Rosenhaus can spin whichever yarn he prefers, but these sound like the comments of an agent trying to drum up interest for his client. Though Mathis has been one of the top guards in the league the last several seasons, teams are likely hesitant to give a 33-year-old guard the kind of long-term money Mathis is seeking. Mathis was scheduled to make $5.5 million with the Eagles this season. Jun 20 - 10:55 AMSource: Miami Herald
