Enough with the talk of drafting a prospect strong safety (again), who is a hybrid linebacker who has issues with third level pass defense...he is a safety. He should be great at that, and he should have more turnovers. Derwin is a underwear Olympic hero, and I get that. Guys like Dontari Poe really raised eyebrows as a result of stellar combines. But I would rather see the Bucs invest that 7 pick into a trench soldier.
Eric Reid is a bonafide strong safety that would compliment this defense perfectly. He won’t be a distraction because he stated he wouldn’t mess with the anthem any longer to get his personal message across. He may actually be the veteran leader the Bucs players will rally around. I know the Glazers love them some POTUS, but having Reid cements the safeties down nicely. Good depth, quality starters with range.
They need to get over themselves and realize they have a TEAM to enhance, and Reid makes the defense look pretty feisty. And winning brings the fans in droves, bandwagon or not.
This also allows them to MAYBE take Denzel Ward, which would REALLY make the starting unit look downright solid, if not good altogether.
Then in round two, go get your guard, and draft some running backs. We will have a tough enough o-line to make these guys shine (potentially).
Just sign Eric Reid. He’s surrendered. And he’s ready to ball.
