JAY CONNER/STAFF TAMPA — What do football-related websites do when football goes into hibernation, which it did last week with the completion of the NFL of offseason workout programs? Well, some of them make up lists. You know, the top 100 players in the league, the top 10 quarterbacks of all time, that sort of thing. The MMQB, a sister site of Sports Illustrated led by Peter King, has gone that route, compiling a list of what King and his staff believe will be the NFL’s 100 most influential people of the 2015 season. And guess what Buccaneers fans? At least three Bucs have made the list, which began to be revealed today with the release of those ranking 71-100. Included in that group, at No. 89, is Bucs general manager Jason Licht, whose decision to go all in on quarterback Jameis Winston with the first overall pick in the draft could define more than Licht’s career. Also among that first group of influentials, at No. 73, is Bucs offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter, who’s history as an offensive architect makes him one of the best, if not the best, coordinator in Bucs history. But it is mostly the impact that the 56-year-old Koetter, with three top-10 offensive finishes on his resume, is expected to have on the controversial and often erratic Winston that has earned him a spot on this list. And then there’s Winston himself. It was revealed in this week’s edition of Sports Illustrated – the magazine – that the young man most entrusted with the task of leading the Bucs search for renewed respect and relevance, will eventually come in at No. 25. So, who else might make MMQB’s list of the 100 most influential people in the NFL for 2015? Gerald McCoy, perhaps? Lavonte David maybe. How about Mike Evans? Guess we’ll all have to wait and see.
