Ok just so I understand.
Hargreaves gets absolutely lit up the first handful of games. Lines up with a 10-15 yard cushion on literally every snap. Gets toasted, shredded, embarrassed, you name it.
Mike Smith says "we let our DB's play how they're comfortable". An approach that CLEARLY has shown to be ineffective this season.
Previous two games before yesterday, Hargreaves plus right up at the line and both weeks, one of the highest graded CB game grades in the entire league. And if you give no stock to PFF grades, the eye test should have been enough. He was playing some really good football aside from a few poor plays in run support.
After his two great games... he's... BENCHED???? Just so we could watch 2 other guys go out there and do the same thing he did for the first five weeks? (seriously, go back and watch. corners gave 10-15 yard cushions for pretty much the entire first half, and most of the second half, just letting Brees do whatever the hell he wanted)
