Serious question.
The Bucs hire a new head coach to a 4 year contract. In 2019 the Bucs again fail to make the playoffs because this is a back-to-back 5-11 team and its unlikely a new coach in his first year turns it around.
So now Licht has never made the playoffs in 6 years and gets fired.
What do you do? You bring in another GM but do they have to keep the coach for at least a year? Does the head coach again help in the decision process? Do you fire your coach after a year?
It just seems that barring this new coach completely turning the Bucs around (very unlikely) the Glazers/Bucs are setting themselves up for a massive mess next year as well.
Am I missing something? Or is hiring a coach with a lame duck GM a terrible idea? Or have they already extended Licht?
