it would mean they like Glennon in Tedfords system
It would mean Glennon doesn't scare them - unlike Rex Grossman, Napolean knows enough not to try to win a game on his own - potentially causing major mistakes for the defense.I can see no reason why Lovie wouldn't keep a QB that is so similar to Brad Johnson...Tony Dungy thought he was a good fit. That would leave them to go after a starting Rush/RDE in the upper levels of the draft...
Whose drawing lines in the sand? We are just stating our opinions on a message board which I believe is what these things are for. I think it will probably end up being a mistake but they will have to live with it. Same as us fans.
+1Nobody is abandoning ship. Lovie went to a SB with Rex Freaking Grossman. We'll be fine.....some of us are just sick of "fine" and would prefer we keep attempting to be great.

Pretty much.
With final say on what personnel are on the team, Coach Smith will decide whether Glennon is his QB of the future or not. With his experience with the QB problems he had in Chicago I think he has the experience to know what he needs and what will work. I have no problem with them keeping Glennon as the starter. They should look to draft another QB in the middle rounds to bring in for competition. But, if Coach Smith decides that Glennon is not his QB, that will work too. There is no doubt he has a lot more at stake than anyone on this board does!
So Hayseed, are we not entitled to have our own opinions? Ones that might differ from yours or that of the organization. Do we have to turn in our fan card if we have said opinions? I mean this team that has won 28 games in the last 5 years never makes bad decisions right?
What exact options are you talking about? Who are we going to trade for Kirk Cousins? I honestly would take Glennon over Cousins and trading for a Qb never works. You look at the draft, Bridgewater, Bortles and Manziel are most likely to go top 5, unless we somehow trade up we are not getting any of them and with only 5 draft picks as it is I doubt that is are plan. That leaves you with Carr in the first round and I do think with the ties to Tedford Carr will be in discussion. If Lovie and the rest of our staff thinks there will be an upgrade out there I have no doubt they will go after it. I will support the decision either way
I don't see any legit FA quarterbacks and going the draft route is highly, highly questionable in this draft. I'm intrigued by Manziel and Bortles, with some season, could be really good...but how do you let a first round pick 'season' these days? That's about it. Be thankful we (hopefully) won't get to waste a few years on Bridgewater. Once the Combine rolls around and people see Carr and Bortles up close and personal watch them shoot up the draft boards.
We will roll right along with him. It is, without a doubt, Lovie's call. And he'll have Tedford in his ear a lot early in this draft. I have to think the fact Glennon does NOT make plays with his feet coupled with the hiring of Tedford indicates the Glennon issue has already been worked out between Lovie and Tedford, or Tedford would NOT have been hired...
I know the Glennon detractors want to force the issue and reach for a QB at all costs in this year's draft , but the fact of the matter is the guys who will be available outside of Bridgewater are risky and not the greatest of prospects. In reality they will probably not be much of an upgrade over Glennon , if at all , so how can you justify that pick with all our other needs ?? You have to get lucky and have the franchise QB fall into your lap . That wont happen this year because Bridgewater is the only guy who fits the bill . If you try and reach for the savior and force the issue you end up with the Christian Ponders of the world.
So now the Dragon Slayer Manziel is not an upgrade of Glennon and not worth drafting? Make up your mind Doloris. I can't keep up.Anyways....was is rumored that Lovie has total control over roster moves? Or is it a reported fact? Just curious because I honestly don't know. I have 100% faith Lovie defensively, but I'm not sure he is the best guy to have total control on offense. The Bears struggled to find solid OL, WR, and QB. They finally traded for Cutler and then Marshall.....but they struggled for years to find a good QB, and their best WR was a glorified KR. The O-line still sucks. I have no idea if that was Lovie's doing in Chicago though. Might have been more Jerry Angelo. Just saying, I hope we have some competent scouts and GM helping Lovie out on that side of the ball.
Starting glennon and failing is nearly worse than drafting one and failing from a coaching perspective.
I disagree. If Lovie rolls with Glennon and fails next year - that was Schiano's guy. Lovie then drafts HIS guy in 2015. If he drafts another guy this year, then it's his guy. He can basically buy himself a free year by going with Glennon. That being said, I want a real QB in here. Not Glennon. Not McCown.
Manziel MIGHT be ...but major MIGHT. Very risky though.I like the gamble at the bottom of the 1st , top of the 2nd. Not so much at 7th overall.
It would be hard to pass on Blake Bortles and I like Glennon a lot.
You're coming around BucNY. You're coming around.....

Glennon isn't someone this staff is vested in so I don't think anything they have done thus far indicates they are or are not interested in continuing on with him. What will tell us is how much we pay someone in FA and/or how high we draft someone in the draft. If we get a Jason Campbell type who is just a backup and or just draft a guy outside of day 1 Glennon is the man.
