Wow. I have a feeling that someone's head is gonna EXPLODE if Glennon starts next year.
Nah. I'll be disappointed....but I know our defense will still get us 8 to 10 wins and we'll be fun to watch. I actually expect us to stick with Glennon. I'm just hoping to be wrong.
Th supposedly worthless and wasted Glennon pick by Schiano has actually turned into a blessing. Lovie has the luxury of already having a very bright QB to run Tedford's "bright QB" offense, an offense that appears to play to Glennon's strengths, no less. On top of that, if there is a better option they can take it and still have a great backup or trade bait . . . yep

Yep. He'll deny it, but he'll go absolutely nuts and inundate every thread with comments about how ugly Glennon is and how even his TD passes aren't good enough somehow.
I doubt we'll trade up for anyone this year, not enough picks to do that without mortgaging the future and like Caradoc said, there is a pretty good chance 3 or 4 quarterbacks are going to be off the board by the time we pick, I definitely don't think it's a good idea to pick the #4 or #5 quarterback when we pick at #7. I could see us wanting to trade down and pick up extra picks, but for that to happen, someone needs to want to trade up and that's not aways a guarantee. If we pick at #7, I still think DE, OL or WR would be the best return although I hope we can pick up a rush DE or two in FA.Anyway, I can see that the board is going to endlessly debate this issue right up to the draft. I wonder if we can get 3SK to just sticky ONE thread for all the quarterback discussion?

Hey if it happens and they go with Glennon you gotta root for him and hope he can be that guy.
Does every thread have to turn into a jdouble thinks glennon is ugly thread. Get over it and stop ruining my pewter report because he's not a huge fan of a mediocre qb. If he's the qb we will all get behind him but hoping we get a superstar is not a crime
Yet another thread where guys who think they know the QB position are making judgements about a guy that, despite being a rookie in a system that was totally craptastic, and having a makeshift OL in front of him, he clearly sucks.../sarcasmJDouble, you made some really key points about Glennon...getting sacked repeatedly by a porous OL. No QB in this league would put up great numbers with that kind of OL performance. And their average yards per pass would be low from having to hit quick routes and checkdowns all the time. Not to mention the lack of receiving talent to throw to. Glennon was a rookie, yet he had one of the better QB rookie seasons on record...running an offense that took WAY too long to for pass routes to develop with an OL that rarely held up. Yet, somehow, he clearly sucks? I just don't get it. Let's see what he does with Tedford's offense. If Tedford has had as much success as he has had with the QB's he's put in the league, don't you think he might be able to get Glennon playing at a level above most average QB's...and thereby be more than good enough to carry this team on that side of the ball? If Tedford's offense can work as well in this league as his former players think, then Glennon will be just fine.God forbid if the Colts, after Manning threw a bazillion picks, gave up on the guy. That would have been funny. Look at SD giving up on Brees. Look at us giving up on Steve Young! You guys just never get it. You will never be satisfied with the QB here unless it's the guy YOU wanted, and the guy wins SB's every year throwing for 5000 yards and 30+ TD's. You have unrealistic expectations of the position.
If there was a fantasy draft for qbs for the whole league. Glennon would he picked near the bottom not the top. So while I hope he does well if he's our qb stop kidding yourself that he this amazing qb that we should build a franchise around

+1
I still think we could draft a QB in round 2 or 4.Lovie has 5 years and we have a lot of holes on offense. I think we can sign a DE and with Lovie and Frazier...they can turn our D into a top 10 D.On offense, I think we need another WR, TE, and some help on the O-line.
Completely agree!

LOL , yep.
I say we should trade up and get a good QB in the draft. I don't think Glennon is the guy.

I'm on board
6.3 yards per pass ranked 37th in the league. 37th in a 32 team league. Think about that.
Jdouble, I know you love that stat and from what I read it is relavent. But I know you realize that more than a QB's talent accounts for this stat. For example, lets look at other QBs with very low yards/attempt for the year. QB's with less than 7.0 are as follows.Matt RyanTom BradyMatt SchaubAndrew LuckJoe FlaccoAlex SmithEli ManningThere are more with lesser credentials but I proved my point. Point is all of those QBs have shown ability. All of them have been in the playoffs this year or last year and several of them have been in both. Some of those QBs are elite and all are franchise guys. Some are having down years because of injury, some just had bad years and some are just what they are but win because of good defense and running game. There are 4 true elite passers in the game as I see it. That's it. There are about another 6-10, depending on how you look at it that are franchise guys and can win if you help them. Can Glennon be elite? Who knows. Can he be a franchise guy? Who knows. But we did see him win 4 games in a row when he was supported with a running game and defense. Everyone wants the elite guy, I do too, but it's not a realistic option at this point. The teams who have them aren't giving them up and I don't believe there is one in the draft outside of Teddy Bridgewater who may have a distant shot at it. Of the guys I consider elite (P. Manning, Brady, Rogers, Brees, maybe Luck in another year or two) two have been taken at the top of the draft and other other three passed up once or more by most teams. It's not always about spending your high pick to find the guy. Glennon was a steal in the 3rd, is he a future elite passer? Again, don't know but guys have talent at QB and you sometimes have to see beyond the gameplan and stats to find it. I don't want our 1st rounder to go to a QB, but a 2nd or 3rd I'm fine with because I think the top 2 guys are off the board by 7 and we'll be reaching. Either way, with Glennon or a rookie, they are going to need help to win, especially with us in the NFC South facing Brees, Ryan and Cam twice a year.
