6.3 yards per pass ranked 37th in the league. 37th in a 32 team league. Think about that.

Jdouble, I know you love that stat and from what I read it is relavent. But I know you realize that more than a QB's talent accounts for this stat.

He likes that stat because it's the worst stat he can dig up on Glennon.  He wouldn't think it was remotely importat in evaluating a QB if it wasn't.

It's pretty consistent. If you look at the lowest YPA's every year, you see the worst QB's and there aren't many examples at all of players who would go on to be good having really low YPA's in previous years. All you get is Nick Foles at #29 in 2012, Matt Ryan at #27 in 2010, Matthew Stafford at #28 in 2009, and Eli Manning at #28 in 2007. That's a ton of bad QB play that never got better. Not a single bad QB from 2011 not 2008 got better. It's a bad list to be on.

Hate to break it to you, but Manning is 6th in the NFL in "air yards" - i.e., how far the ball travels before it is caught. YPA is a lot less about YAC and a lot more about accuracy.

It's not all about YAC , but it's quite a bit about YAC ....and other factors outside of the QB's hands.  Like scheme , surrounding talent , etc.

In 2012 was Martin was 14th in the league in YAC. VJax was 20th. Mike WIll was 32nd. That's among all active WR, TE, and RBs....so about 180 starters. To have three guys in the top 35 is pretty good. This year Martin and Williams were obviously hurt, and VJax was only 53rd in the league in YAC.....but ball placement has a lot to do with YAC. The quarterback has to set his receiver up to run after the catch. Kinda sad that Freeman was better at that than Glennon.

The Yards per Pass stat that you guys are talking about actually includes a bunch of zeros for every incomplete pass. If I guy throws a lot of short, high percentage passes it can boost his number simply by reducing the number of incompletions.I like the Yards per completion stat better. It is more accurate imo because it only includes passes that have been completed. You can see those stats at the link below. We are still 31st. The Falcons were actually worse. http://www.sportingcharts.com/nfl/stats/team-passing-yards-per-completion/2013/

And if you don't think the stat is important, notice that 10 of the 12 playoff teams are in the top 15. The only playoff teams not in the top 15 are the Chiefs and Panthers. Both those teams had top defenses though, which is not a coincidence.

Yes...but you still mix up the cause and effect, which is what we are telling you. How much "better" would Brady or Manning be if they were running our offense instead of Glennon? Marginally better because they are veterans, but that's it. They would likely look pretty bad too because they would be on their backs or constantly trying to force passes into our covered receivers. The offense, and the tools available, sucked. Which is why you can't completely grade Glennon based on it. Which is the whole point of what we are trying to tell you; i.e. stop blaming our craptastic offense on the QB when the OL and receivers weren't cutting it. Draft Watkins, get Williams and the OL back healed, as well as replacing anyone on that line that needs replacing...THEN we'll see what Glennon truly has with an offensive scheme that is better suited to him.Until then, your evaluation of him is premature.

Glennon will never be known as a gunslinger or a scrambler. But he could be a very good qb. He could have reached his peak this year. I just don't see how splitting reps between 2 young qbs, in addition to the resources needed to get the 2nd qb, would be helpful.  Unless of course our qb evaluations were better than the 6 teams drafting in front of us.  Not sure I love those odds.

That is your opinion. My opinion differs, If he was worth sticking with, he would have figured out a way to rise above all your excuses and shine. Maybe not every game, but he would have been great at least once. Just once. But you can't name a single game where he was great for an entire game. You can't name a single 2nd half where he was great. I'm not sure you could find a 2nd half where he was even good. Sorry, but a great QB makes the people around him better and makes things happen on his own. Even as a rookie in tough conditions, a great QB would be great occasionally. Glennon was often average to good at the beginning of games and horrible in the 2nd half. Never once was he great. He never even had a 300 yard game or a 3 TD game. You guys get defensive because deep down you know you are defending an average game managing back up QB and praying he is more. One more stat for you guys. Passing 1st down %. Glennon was 45th in the league. Ouch, http://www.sportingcharts.com/nfl/stats/passing-first-down-percentage/2013/

Doloris is right about one thing. We were worst in the league in YAC this year. They have a "Air Yards" stat. Glennon was first in % of passing yards in the air and dead last in % passing yards after catch.I think some of that has to be on the QB though, Ball placement decides whether a receiver can get YAC in most cases.

Mind you, JDub defines "excuses" as things like coaching staff, offensive support and lack of experience. I'll be sure to keep on eye on this thread because I'm willing to bet that when one of his man crushes struggles, he will use one of these "excuses"........with the quickness.

Well, he does play in Mile High Stadium you know.....the air is a lot thinner ;)
