Buccaneers offense is built for the futureBy Sander Philipse Jul 1, 2015 Kim Klement-USA TODAY SportsSome offenses are set up to win right now, while others are built with the future in mind. Over at ESPN, Aaron Schatz of Football Outsiders tried to find five offenses that adhere to the latter paradigm. He did so by looking at what they call "snap-weighted age," or the average age of the team's offensive players based on the snaps they're likely to take, rather than a vague ranking of 'starters,' which is an increasingly outdated metric given all of the different packages teams put out there.Unsurprisingly, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers fit the bill.Combine St. Louis' offensive line overhaul with Tennessee's fresh-faced rookie QB, and you get the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Jameis Winston is all but sure to become only the fifth quarterback in the last two decades to start an NFL game in his age-21 season. Three of the others were also first overall selections: Matthew Stafford, Michael Vick and Alex Smith. The fourth? Josh Freeman.Schatz also points out that the Buccaneers will start replacing a few older starters in the near future, with Logan Mankins, Demar Dotson, Vincent Jackson and Brandon Myers all being over 30. Myers is likely to lose his starting job to Austin Seferian-Jenkins this season, and the other three should be phased out over the next few years. All of that to say the Bucs are set up for long-term success on offense, the way they were on defense a couple of years ago. They've invested in a lot of youth on over the past two years, using all but one of their draft picks on that side of the ball, and as a result they have a core of young, quality players who can learn a system together, and hopefully thrive in the long run. If everything goes right, the Bucs could have one of the best offenses in the NFL in a couple of years because of that. The question is whether that's going to make them a good team this year. Youth gives hope for the future, but youth often needs some time to adjust to the NFL. Is that what we're going to see this year?link
