1) For anyone paying attention, the Giants first three plays told you all we needed to know about their gameplan. They were slants and seams. Later in the game, when Beckham got hot against a zone, he just went down and turned around in that same area. This is a passing league and rules are set up for yards to happen, but we are making things way too easy. Yes, we slowed them down in the second, but it was still fairly predictable. They also ran some fakes with Eli then rolling out, and while we did better, our left defensive end still bit down and gave him room to make the throw.2) Winston is coming along. Yes, we lost, but I come away feeling very bright about our future. He was spot on. Yes, there were some rookie things, like locking in on Evans in the endzone when he was double covered and the tight end or someone was open in the middle, but I personally think we have something special behind center right now. The main problem is our receivers continue to drop the ball. Evans dropped a number, even I thought he was interfered with on the one deep bomb and there was significant illegal contact against Evans as he went to the endzone on third down in the fourth. This is not a criticism but an observation. My one disappointment today with Winston today was his deep ball, which was not as accurate as it has been. He had opportunities and on the whole read them well (there was double coverage on one I believe), but he was not on target. That could have made a big difference in the game.3) Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but that was the first hook and ladder play I have seen in Tampa history. Moreover, it would have worked had Evans held onto the ball. Both Giant defenders were zoning in on him and whoever was running by him would have had clear sailing for thirty or more yards. Koetter, that was an excellent call!4) Don't remember a sack, though I was out for twenty minutes of the game, but liked the pressure our front four was able to apply. Eli made some good throws and that Beckham catch on third down with the game on the line was simply incredible, but today they did better.5) Shot of the day for me was Winston talking to Spence on the sideline after his boneheaded play. Looked like he was being direct even as he wasn't yelling or screaming. What was telling, however, was the respect being afforded Winston by Spence. Check out his body language, how he was listening. That right there tells me that this is Winston's team.6) Imagine how differently this game would have been without those two fumbles by Sims and Martin. I know they happen, but just as the Falcons gave us the win last week, so do I think we win this game despite the yards we gave up if we just hold on to the ball.
