http://www.spotrac.com/premium/research/nfl/contract-forecast-j.j.-watt-412/ Suh has a $26.9M franchise tag in 2015 and will get well over $100M from the Lions or in free agency. McCoy isn't going to take a paycut like you all assume. He's looking at a $100M+ contract also. We cannot have a $16M corner.
Lol.. Let's not resign him then!/sarcasm
Just move Akeem Spence to UT. Problem solved. Now someone pass the Dorito's and Visene.
Watt deserves that. I wish he was a Buc. If they had Watt and Kuechly on D instead of Clayborn and Barron, they would be set.

lol
I don't care what they predict NO TEAM is giving him a contract that big. No team. $23.6 million for a DE? Yea right. I don't care how elite he is. Amd he is elite. He's not a QB.

dude when was the last time you were watching news about professional sports and the next one-upper contract comes through and you said to yourself "yeah, that makes sense"I think if anything can be learned by watching finances in pro sports is that there will ALWAYS be some bone-headed owner/gm dishing out bone-headed contracts every year
JJ Watt isn't getting $142m...
That's their opinion of his 'value' not what he'll actually get. "While it may seem outrageous to assume the Texans or any team might actually make an offer this high - we're simply determining the true value of Watt at this moment in time - as outrageous as it may result in."
I could see him end up getting 6 for 120m

Or if he does, it'll be over a heck of a lot more than 6 years.

I understand what you mean. There is always that one head scratching deal. But $142 million is such a stretch. If it had said 6yrs/$115 million-$120 million I would have said that's crazy but maybe someone will do it. But $142 is more than every QB in this league. That's baseball numbers.

I'd be shocked if he exceeds $108M for 6 years.
unless we talk about a Top QB you should never throw to a player more than 10% per year of the salary cap... no matter how good he's... this is a team sport!

Agreed. The Bucs salary structure is a disasterRevis- 13%McCoy- 12.7%Jackson- 10.1%Nicks on the team- 7.6%Nicks off the team- 5.8%Goldson- 7.3%We're going to have 5 players taking up 49% of the salary cap and one of them isn't even going to be on the team. Comparison to the 4 teams still playingTop 5 paid and their percentage of capPats- 29% (one of them is Brady)Broncos- 32% (one of them in Manning)49ers- 27.9%Seahawks- 36%Summary: We're doing it wrong.
