OK, the Bucs now have 20 coaches, counting the Strength & Conditioning Coach. This is a drop from the 25 Schiano kept around. http://www.buccaneers.com/news/article-smith/Phair-Polk-Round-Out-Coaching-Staff/d522cc92-5e68-4264-b1c3-df68295172df However, there does appear to be a missing piece in the F.O., as Licht has indicated he will not be filling the important role of Capologist, which in retrospect seems to have been Mark Dominik's strongest suit. Gotta wonder who will fill that role now. Maybe Dominik returns (doubtful), we hire an outsider, or attach it to someone else's duties already in our FO, like Quarles or Stokes? Or perhaps it's already been decided but just not announced...
Dom's cap and contract guy is still here.Greenberg
This is a term I haven't seen used around message boards before. It's overstated. The model is in place. Just follow it. Hopefully we don't continue overpaying guys.

Yea that's himAs planned, hopefully Berg can be the $$$ guy and Licht can focus on players.
really? someone want to keep the guy who made contract for Revis, Goldson, VJax, Nicks, Wright, Joseph, Koenen, Barth, Mike Williams, Zuttah?

You are giving him blame for something that was Dominik. He manages the cap, not handing out money. He's the one who works on the structuring of the money in what years they go into and how much is singing bonus and restructuring. If he is to blame for those contracts then what is it Dominik did to get fired?

I don't buy that one bit. You're saying that he just looks at the numbers decides how its going to be broken up without having any say on how much the player is getting? Don't believe it. Especially considering the fact that in order for him to manage the cap he has to have an idea of how much the team is committing to the players.
His profile clearly states that he works on "all aspects of the salary cap, contract negotiation, and strategic planning." To me, that gives a pretty clear indication that he has input on how much there is to spend, how it gets paid. How can you negotiate unless you know how much you can spend? He may not decide who to sign, but he would not doubt play a role in deciding what they can be paid.

The Revis contract is great .... if he looked like he was damaged goods from that knee injury we could have cut him and had no cap consequences whatsoever. Now that we know he is fine we can restructure if we so choose to backload some of that money.
I wonder if, years from now (after we in the superbowl), if some people on this board will look back and say, "Greg Schiano built that team".....

You can buy whatever you want, but this guy doesn't negotiate contracts with the agents. That's the GM's job. This guy helps the GM with the structure of the contracts and how it relates to the cap now and in the future.

restructure a $16M per year deal and i predict cap hell in 2016, maybe sooner if you sign the Jared Allen, Tillman...
