I thought it would be interesting to see a statistical value of how bad, or good, this defense has been this season vs quarterbacks. For starters, i will begin with offenses who played tampa bay with backup qbs or rookies. Anyone worth a damn will be excuded in my first take.Marcus mariota - 209yards, 13 of 15, 4TDRyan mallett      - 228Yards, 24 of 39, 1TD 1INTBlake bortles      - 303Yards, 22 of 33, 4TD 1INTKirk cousins      - 317yards, 33 of 40, 3TDMatt cassel        - 180yards, 19 of 29, 0TD 1INTMark sanchez    - 261yards, 26 of 41, 2TD 3INTM hasselback    - 315yards, 26 of 42, 2TDHere are the turds. The unwashed, uneducated, or unwanted. In total, these qbs amassed a total of 1813 Yards, 123 of 249, 16TD 6INT in seven games. Then, we include the qb's who are average or better, as well as constant/old vets.Matt ryan            - 397yards, 37 of 45, 2TD 1INTMatt ryan            - 269yards, 30 of 45, 1TD 1INT(2nd)Cam newton      - 124Yards, 11 of 22, 2TDDrew brees        - 255yards, 24 of 38, 1TD 1INTDrew brees        - 312yards, 31 of 41, 2TD (2nd)Eli manning        - 213yards, 26 of 40, 2TD 1INTThese  four "good" qbs made up a cumulative statline of - 1570yards, 159 of 231, 10TD 4INT.Adding those two together, we then come up with a total sum of - 3383yards, 282 of 580, 26TD 10INT for the year so far.Keep in mind, these are only the qb stats. This doesnt take into account touchdowns or yardage by other players. Now for some comparative analysis. The best qb in the league atm is probably brady or palmer. Having to make that choice, i will choose the more "stable" of the two qbs, which is obviously brady. His stat line on the year is - 4138yards, 345 of 547, 33TD 6INT. More than excellent stats. So, the question we have to answer is, ..are the bucs making evey qb look like brady? The answer is, no, they are not. However, lets look at a more "average" qb first, before making too many assumptions.Andy dalton is tenth ranked atm, so as a barometer, we will use him as a comparison. He has a current stat of - 3250yards, 255 of 386, 25TD 8INTThis guess just so happens to be the best comparison after looking at the stats. The bucs arent making everyone look like brady, but they are making every qb look like the tenth ranked qb, on average. So, the answer to my question, in its most simplest form, is that the bucs give up waay too much, but they arent giving up what a top qb can really lay on a team. This isnt as bad as it could be, but it is still a problem. IF any qb can come to tampa, no matter who they are, and play as if they are one of the top ten qbs in the league, every game, then this defense has much to improve upon.Feel free to include any type of stat in this thread as well. I'm not trying to bash the bucs defense in this thread, but i would like to know where we currently stand, in regards to the weakest link.
