I know many of you, myself included is very skeptical of Jamies now and more importantly did the organization make the correct choice picking him over Mariota. However, with this offensive line, terrible offensive play selection and the high school defense that played yesterday against the Titans no QB would have been successful yesterday. I think it is reasonable to conclude that the conversation would be totally different today if we had selected Mariota. Today we would be talking about how good Jamies looked vs the Bucs, and how bad Mariota looked. The question would now be why didn't the Bucs select the more "pro ready" QB, instead of the gimmick spread guy who has never played under center, and has terrible footwork. We would be discussing the offensive line and how Mariota was running for his life yesterday. The point is you cannot tell from one game how good or bad these two will be long term. Yesterday everything was magnified because they faced off against one another and there was a direct comparison in the very first game. Honestly, does anyone have confidence that if the Bucs had picked Mariota first that this staff would have tailored the game plan to his strengths like the Titans staff did? I for one do not.
