Too much focus on the QB, which is ironic because Mayfield just excelled in the "any QB will do" offense of Canales

I read on here that Trask might be the next Purdy, so does this loss mean Purdy isnt good enough?

he had a good year but the niners are stacked

luckily for NFC teams, the 49ers will likely run with Purdy again until their window continues to close more and more - ie Dallas with Prescott

In my mind jury is still out on Purdy. His clock hasn’t struck midnight with an OT Super Bowl loss but eventually he may be announced Jimmy G numero dos

49ers WIN.  Best winning percentage!

Glad to see you’re being serious about fixing the unnecessary trolling issue you were so vocally against.

Not sure if it’s this one, or the other 20 different versions of this tired joke you posted, but good to see you fighting the good fight.

Come on, man?  Joking about a FOOTBALL TAKE is NOT the problem here. Personal name calling battles is/was the problem. IF YOU WANT PROOF of that look no further than the the "winning percentage" discussion you are talking about.  How did that go?

I can tell you . .it ended up with Biggs calling Badabing a "DOPE."

I was pointing out that the "winning percentage" take doesn't mesh with the reality of the NFL . .. . too much for your liking, okay.  Apologies.

Naturally, it didn’t end that way. A good rule of thumb is if you say something happened one way, it’s a pretty safe bet that thing didn’t happen that way at all. But you dream about me. I’m constantly bouncing around in that shameless done of yours.

Par for the course.

NFL Sundays can certainly get crazy during game time but that's what we are passionate about.

So long as we stay off the topic of quarterback (starting, or otherwise…)!

Domr...err even dome.  Buddy I make the most Intentional and UNintnetional spelling errors of ALL TYM!!!  Its Hilarious.  In any case, this board HAS CLEANED UP DRAMATICALLY in just the past 2 months.  It's breathtaking watching this Board goes from basically the Cove to a place where we can...like chat and shoot-the-shyt about All football-related matters and other matters "nonfootball" alike- like Life stuff and wisdom stuff.  Good job DH and Biggs.  Both of you are doing what Dungy did for the bucs in 96 for this Board TODAY.  Keep up the good work-EVERYONE!!!

Despite all of Mahomes late game heroics, I can't help but think the 49ers blew the game. The 49ers defense was absolutely dominant in the first half. The 10-3 lead was about where it should have been given how it played out. The lead could have been bigger. The 49ers had a shitload of penalties slowing their offense. Then the Chiefs had the ball for the first possession of the second half and Mahomes turned it over right away. Imagine if the 49ers had been more aggressive with their play calling on that possession and gone ahead 17-3, but they went 3 and out. The Chiefs got a field goal, now 10-6. 49ers go 3 and out again. 49ers hold. Chiefs get a fluke punt turnover and take the lead after doing nothing but squadoosh on offense thus far in the game. The 49ers had chances to put the Chiefs down on the mat and they didn't make the plays. Then the Chiefs outplayed them down the stretch. After the game, there has been much discussion about the 49ers taking the ball first in OT, and some of their players not knowing the updated playoff OT rules. The 49ers should have given the Chiefs the ball. The 49ers would have known what they needed to do after the conclusion of that possession. Taking the ball and settling for a field goal gave the Chiefs knowledge of what they needed to do, and have 4 downs after every first down they made since they had to score. It made it easier for the Chiefs to march down the field and score. Reid outcoached Shanahan in regard to the OT.

@seekpar --You make some good points, but for me, the game hinged on the muffed punt and missed extra point. In other words, special teams.

Aye, the smallest of details win SB-level games.  It's just a handful of plays....even JUST one, that makes all the Dif.  If MOODY makes that CHIP SHOT on THAT day...well, there is a very high likelihood that San Fran is planning their trip to the White House even as we "type this hypothetical conjecture up."  Something as small as one play put them one point shy of winning the game in regulation.  Sometimes the "margin for error" is so razor thin that calling a TO at the end of a big game can give you that ONE last Play to block a chip shot Extra Point setting you up to win the game in OT.  The player that WON THAT GAME was the GUY (no name- BTW, I have no idea who he was) who blocked that chip shot.  That started an inevitable CHAIN of events that won them the game.  My 2c.

Agreed

one reason why statistics are often misleading in football is that play selection is probably most linked to in-game circumstances, all the more so with a team often playing from behind.

the 1pt difference changed things from TD needed to FG ties it, I think. If that’s accurate that is a huge deal late in a game.

It made all the difference.  They knew even then that the mathematics of that “mere” miss was Moah impactful than a “mere” ONE point, or even ONE PLAY…it was literally the point/play that cost them the game.  Hindsight tho is 20/400 tho😩, always time to agonize over what COULDA been…

Also wtf is boatswain or carpenter or second mate.  Wtf is quartermaster and Master at Arms.  It CANT BE BASED ON SENIORITY, I've been here since I was like 15 back when we were all excited BOUT THIS NEW guy…DUNGY OR something.  I basically got my first job so I could pay for my membership here, and Im a boatswain?  C’mon, let me steer every once in awhile, I'm a loyal one…boatswain.  Boatswains have to ask the captain for rum after they've swabbed the decks.  I don't swab decks anymore, and I ask no man permission to drink rum.  Buy hey, they just neat little identifiers.  But what do the identifiers really indicate?  Master at arms sounds awefully important, quartermaster 2…2 of my favorite posters in fact…i would even say “real ones” at least in this “space” anyhoo.  Well tootaloo.  Time for cardiovascular marathoning…i took a pill just in case 😂😂😂.  Wish me luck, and luck be with u all tonight.  Out for real this time.  See ya tomorrow, gait impaired or not!

No worries, they switch the classifications up every once in awhile. Some have lost posts and/or post counts wiped out, I think it mostly coincides with site upgrades/storage.

I think some of the posters on here have been reset several times of which I’m aware…but some folks drift into lurk mode from time to time.

Speaking of which, has anyone seen @DalBuc lately?
