We are definitely going to run the Cover two for the vast majority of defensive plays under Lovie Smith and Frazier. No question. It's just a matter of putting the personnel together. Otherwise we hired the wrong people because these guys are masterful with that defense. I can't wait. Did anyone see how awesome Jeff Fischer s cover two zone defense was last year? I can't wait.

We'll see I guess but I don't think we'll see the Tampa 2 strictly when guys like Brees and Ryan just laugh at it.Monte ran the cover 2 last year and his defense was historically bad. I'm sure Lovie took notice and will adjust accordingly.
Lovie is also the same coach who wouldn't adjust and kept Grossman at qb. So not too sure Lovie is quick to change what he has been coaching in since 1996. Hasn't he already mentioned he has the keystones for his defense, GMC, David and two safeties? Sure sounds an awful lot like the setup with Sapp, Brooks and Lynch.They have also said they lineup in Tampa 2 as a shell, and disguise what they want to do, so while they might not actually run the Tampa 2, I think pre snap formation will often show Tampa 2.
I think one of the problems here is "Tampa-2" as a philosophy, and Tampa-2 as a coverage. I think it's pretty clear that Lovie is going to mix up the coverages a lot more than we did in the past under Dungy/Kiffin. So when Lovie says things about the Tampa-2 being "who we are" I think he's mostly talking about pressure from the front-4, 3-tech, the WILL, etc. I can't find it, but Dungy talked about this years ago.
