fact of the matter is, you wouldn't bring in a veteran of Teddy's caliber if you were happy with Trask as the #2.
This isn't a fact, it's your opinion.
Honest question: Do you think it was a coincidence that TB was signed after injuries to two of the four QB that were already on the roster?
you are correct. It’s an opinion
Timing could be a coincidence though. I mean teddy was just suspended from coaching mid July and signs with us in early August?
theres got to be plenty of camp arms available that would have been less threatening to trask, no?
If the team has superbowl aspirations, maybe they thought this opportunity at a low cost was too much to pass up
game 3 will be interesting. Imagine trask gets the start but if he doesn’t, not a good indicator

Sure, there are. But why wouldn't you want to go ahead and get the best available? I'm not sure there is a better QB available to sign off of the street than Bridgewater.
FTR, I'm not saying TB was only signed as a camp arm. But a camp arm was needed and he was the best available. I fully expect him to make the roster and the team to carry three QB's.
If the team has superbowl aspirations, maybe they thought this opportunity at a low cost was too much to pass up
Agreed. We've been pretty lucky in this department, but QB's can get hurt. Having the best options available is always a good idea.
If Teddy doesn’t get hurt and doesn’t play terrible next week I’m almost 100% certain he’ll be QB2 going into the season for multiple overlapping reasons.
Dang he made $64 mil and his net worth is $24 mil? That's a lot of visits to steakhouses. Anyway $25K per week, but that's still a drop in the bucket for him. If the guy is only making 5% on his 24 mil that's $1.2 mil just having his money in a fund. That's four times an annual practice squad salary just sitting and watching his fund. But he just wants to be on an NFL football team. I don't think he wants to be on a practice squad for more than a couple weeks.
per front office sports: Practice squad players make significantly more if they have been in the NFL for over two years. Their salaries are negotiable between a minimum of $17,500 and a maximum of $25,000 per week. Thats also a kool story about his career earnings. A simple Google search has his net worth @ 24 mil, still a nice nest egg, but as I mentioned earlier its not just salary, its increased years toward his future pension. In addition I think it was SR that mentioned PS to avoid fully guaranteed salary this year.
You could see them slide him onto the practice squad for a couple weeks just to play some games with the 53 man roster knowing he's not going anywhere. But that's short term. He has no need to be fighting for a spot on the team. If he just doesn't have it anymore he'll retire.
Taxes will take nearly 50% of the $64m gross he's made in his career. Not to mention union dues, agent fees, manager fees and that's before cost of living.

Bingo.
Also, i've read before that Teddy has given many donations to charities and causes, that he's been interested in over the years. He's a giver.
ow the naysayers are saying adding Teddy is like adding another coach, only reason they did that; well okay but why now?
Bowles considers him another coach and he can be a mentor for Mayfield and Trask. SR feels the Bucs can save money by stashing him on the PS but maybe the Bucs feel differently about Teddy.
maybe the Bucs feel differently about Teddy.
how do you think they feel about him? Camp arm? extra coach, so to speak?
I’d have to say he looked shockingly good for a guy who was in street cloths a little more than a week and a half ago. Those two passes for scores were fantastic, perfect touch. Never saw a pass from Trask like that.maybe the Bucs feel differently about Teddy.

I think the “coach on the field” thing has some merit. Also think his familiarity with Grizz may be factors, along with the fact of his play in a meaningless game may have been what Grizz was hoping to get.
An experienced backup, with an ability to be a short term quality QB, that could actually get a few wins in a worst-case scenario - not to mention someone Baker can bounce ideas off (something Trask can’t do)… and Teddy B may have played himself into consideration. We’ll see what happens if the roles are reversed against the Bills.
Bridgewater is the #2

Agreed on the first one to Bucky. Beautiful throw.
The second TD was a better catch by Egbuka than throw by the QB, IMO.
After thinking about this a bit more, and watching the play again, I kinda disagree with the second take about the throw to Egbuka (given the context of the throw to Bucky for the score), but I’d like to hear how you got there? Those two passes for scores were fantastic, perfect touch.

"The reason Bridgewater was in the game in the first place is because the Bucs... have lost faith in Kyle Trask, previously Mayfield’s backup.
One of the reasons Trask has fallen out of favor is that he’s had a bad training camp
Trask has been consistently inconsistent

The WR had to slow down and go to the ground to catch the ball. The ball was a tad late and/or underthrown. Excellent play by Egbuka. Tough to make an argument for a great pass when the receiver has to go to the ground to catch it.
Compare and contrast that with hitting Irving in-stride while dropping the ball right in his breadbasket. Excellent throw by the QB.
Interesting, and no doubt a viable consideration. I still think it may have been a great placement for the coverage and the room to work. I believe the analyst even thought it was a good throw, and better catch. I’ll have to pay closer attention to Teddy B’s next outing. After thinking about this a bit more, and watching the play again, I kinda disagree with the second take about the throw to Egbuka (given the context of the throw to Bucky for the score), but I’d like to hear how you got there? Those two passes for scores were fantastic, perfect touch.

To be clear, I don’t think Teddy is still a starting QB, but at this point, there are still aspects of his that make him a better back-up for Grizz’s offense. I also think Grizz is trying to see if that’s still true - but with the context of the ball placement to JMac, you make an interesting point.
I still don’t see Kyle making either of those scoring tosses, consistently. Teddy B either got lucky, twice, or he has something Kyle doesn’t have.

it should not surprise any of us if trask is flat out cut and stashed on the practice squad….and no other team even flinches
I don’t know the florida college football dynamic with some of you fans and if that plays a part, but we seem to be inflating trask value around the league
