Jay Cutler - "...let the bidding begin at $20m per season..."
Meanwhile Johnny Football is partying over this news. Throwing back a few.
Actually he said today that if he isn't projected to be a 1st round pick, then he will return to A&M for another year.
He should.Get some education, fill that frame out, and make a better rep so that next season he gets picked at the very top without question. But I understand , if he declares. Thats a lot of greenbacks.
Free agent QBs for the upcoming year include: Shaun Hill (who I would sign), Josh Freeman (insert joke here), Kellen Clemens, Chad Henne (decent depth), Luke McCown (insert another joke here), Charlie Whitehurst (yep...), Derek Anderson and Jimmy Clausen to go along with Cutler....it's slim pickings out there.
I think it's just matter of not looking too anxious. All these QBs are saying they might go back, probably because their agent is telling them to not seem desperate to declare. I bet they all declare. Even Bortles.

Pretty sure Matt Schaub will be available also.

That's nuts that he's not.Just look at his numbers. Christ, it's like they think he's four foot tall or something. And as far as what his dad said..bitter old man. How credible is it to sell out your own son? I'd never sell my kids out like that, so his opinion to me means nothing.Honestly, if he had a father like that growing up, and went on to do all that he has, then he's a better man than people have given him credit for.Actually he said today that if he isn't projected to be a 1st round pick, then he will return to A&M for another year.
Sry bad post. Stupid cell lol.
Actually, there is a good financial reason for Teddy to stay in college. Maybe not on draft day itself, where, like was said above, the money is no longer there but on contract #2. The difference between the 1st overall and the 10th overall is no longer as drastic as it use to be. But as a QB, would you rather be drafted by Denver or Cleveland? Manning doesn't have much left, it would be a good thing to tutor under him for a year and the team and staff is capable of winning. In Cleveland you would get thrown to the wolves and be in a much less favorable situation. The odds that Bridgewater or any other QB excels in Denver or a similar place, is much greater than in Cleveland, Minnesota or even Jax. Almost any other position can still earn a mega 2nd contract even on a crappy team, but if a QB gets stuck on one, unless they are just god like, they can just forget it. So in Bridgewaters case, maybe he is looking at Mariota, Winston and other QB's in next years draft and thinking in the long run, its more financially sound to be the 10th or 12th pick vice the 1st or 2nd.
On the other hand, Houston's actually potentially a pretty nice landing spot for a rookie QB.
I was thinking that, and I agree. You just don't know who the coaching staff will be, the system that will be run and so on. It is a gamble either way.

I was quite surprised to see Charlie Whitehurst is still in the league
...and this is bad news for us. At 9 or so we want as many top prospects in the draft. Anything that thins the top makes our lives that much harder.
Actually this would be fantastic news for us, especially if we retain Schiano. If he is anywhere close to as bad as people think the team will quit on him next year. No way anyone sits through this year and starts out similarly next year without quitting. We aren't in range of an elite prospect any longer this year, but could be next.
I'm convinced Schiano and Glennon will be our franchise in 2014, and I am convinced we will fail horribly and our new coach will be taking a QB with our top 3 pick in 2015.....so the more QBs that stay in school the better.
Bridgewater would likely be the number 1 pick this year. He would be silly to pass it up for next year. The guy has nothing left to prove.
Is his agent Matt Lienhart?
