I suppose. When they showed Licht talking to Tez, Tez asked him why he didn't pick him sooner and Licht said because he didn't have a 6th round pick. So maybe he would have been a 6th round pick. But even then the 6th round picks are usually minor role players at best. There's a huge dropoff from 5th to 6th. In the 5th you can think about getting guys who have a chance to to make a real impact like Dennis and McCollum, amazing picks for that round. But in the 6th and beyond it's been nothing but minor players like Ko Kieft and Josh Hayes. Scotty Miller is the best Licht can show for his 6th round.I think Warren Sharp had the pick as one of the better value picks in the draft.
i think Sharp defined "value" as when picked as compared to when he was projected to be picked, not the relative success of the pick.
if a 7th round guy makes the team that is good. Contribute on special teams, a win. Get on the field as a WR, great!
Tez needs to be able to block if he wants to make the team, you gotta be able to be good at your role. Sometimes you need battle tested guys who are ready to go in the fray with. Sheperd demeanor and readiness for the saints in our first matchup is hard to take out of the 53, cause you know when youre out there with him he's gonna jumping in the fray with the boys and the energy on the sidelines is sometimes the punch in the mouth our team needs.
We got a lot of ncie guys but need some guys ready to bury another guy which is why I like having at least one or two guys like Ayers,Jensen, JPP, Suh...killer instinct
Yeah I have to agree.
On any other roster Tez has a good chance of making the team but the Bucs WR unit is so competitive that it is the best unit on this team easily. The cuts last year were brutal because it was so competitive. C. Johnson was an undrafted rookie that made the squad and he was highly thought of by Grizzard and Coen because of his juice. Calloway was always a return threat as a Saint so as a Buc he has a shot to stick along with being a deep threat like Palmer And Grizzard wants to incorporate more deep passing plays so I wouldn't close the book on Calloway or Palmer from making the team just yet. Knue was a tough cut last year because he was literally glue hands out there.
I think if Tez can beat out this murder's row of talent at WR he DESERVES the roster spot easily. Easily.
Considering how deep we are at the position, he'll have an uphill climb in camp.
Would be cool if he stuck as a ST'er.
