Tez made some really nice plays today.
Godwin looks a little washed but I'll give him some time to get back to it.
I think calling him washed is crazy.
He'll be rusty through most of the year IMO. After the ACL he was clearly not right in 2022. 2023 he had a good year and obviously 24' he was going to have a ridiculous year.
Let the man round back in to form before we throw dirt on his corpse.
I'll give him some time to get right for sure... But the drops have been bad. He's a nice third down conversion play maker but I'm not sure he's the wr2 anymore with Egbuka and Evans. Tez looks more explosive and Shepard has been solid.
All that said, I expert we'll see vintage Godwin at some point
Only guessing but we might find out that Godwin came back early because of the circumstances
"Godwin had a rough non-catch yesterday after a bad bobble, and he also appeared almost gimpy on the CBS broadcast.
Is he injured? Todd Bowles didn’t say ‘No’ when asked about Godwin this afternoon. Bowles said he knows Godwin is sore."
He definitely deserves the benefit of doubt, but yes his play has been "not Godwin-like"
If he's coming back too early then that's just moronic

agreed but just watching him on the field he seems like he doesnt have his feet under him

Yeah I'm sure conditioning isn't great
Of course he's rusty, but nobody can tell you with honesty that it's only a matter of time before he is the Godwin of old again. Not Godwin, not Licht. Nobody knows if that ankle will ever be what it needs to be.If he's coming back too early then that's just moronic

Definitely true Trask, but the people who would know the most - Godwin and the Bucs - sure seem to think the Godwin of old will return.
Every season has multiple story lines and this is certainly one of them: will Godwin return to form?
Godwin needs to be 80% of what he was. Once we have all the weapons back his roll will be the safety blanket and third down conversion
Bowles
"“Confidence is 10 out of 10,” Bowles said of his Johnson feelings. “He has a lot of speed and he is a great route runner. He has outstanding hands. He has a good feel for the game and as he gets the system down you’ll see more and more Tez.”

about the overall offense and Grizz
“They kind of confused them since they weren’t ready for; they were trying to cover a Emeka [Egbuka] and Chris [Godwin] the whole time, but the other guys contributed,” Bowles said.
Helluva 7th round pick
Licht can evaluate small oregon WRs. That is a winning strategy!
Licht has pretty consistently hit on WRs.
DEs he cannot evaluate.
I think what the Bucs have chance with their evaluation with smaller offensive player is that they need to be able to be physical player that contest catches. It is easy to draft big bodied WRs that contest catches as that has been the Bucs M.O. on offense for a while. But being able to find value picks up like Buck and T. Johnson just shows that talent can be found throughout the draft and it is okay to change up the Bucs scouting and drafting philosophy on offense.
