if you want Coen to remain, we basically need Bucs to lose the next 2 games
Anything short of an appearance in the NFCCG and he’s gone.
The Glazers publicly hinted at it.

they did? i tried googling but failed. is there any article to this with quotes?
in any event, would be interesting to see how things play outs
so your guess is if they dont go furhter than last year, he is gone
my take is playoff appearance or 10-7 record and miss playoffs guarantees him to return
the next 6 weeks will be interesting :)

i would define improvement as 2 playoff wins.
let's see if they put their money where their mouth is!

So, in other words, an appearance in the NFCCG. Just as I had said. And, just as I had said during the offseason (much to the chagrin of Bowles’ most loyal leg humper).
Anything less, is a failure. And, based on the ownership’s words, seems like they see it the same way.
Let’s see if your boy pulls a rabbit out of his hat.

exactly, we are not disagreeing on improvement
just disagreeing on whether Bowles is here or not, falling short of that expectation
and you can say he is my boy but that is troublesome for Bowles if i am his biggest fan.

Bowles is in a very precarious position and he has been since the 2nd Falcons loss. I say that because even if they get to the playoffs this season that still feels like sort of a mirror image of last season, right down to the mid-season dip and comeback (if it happens). No rational person discounts the impact of injuries this year over last, but it still feels like stagnation AND that is not good for Bowles because, unlike last year, there is one other BIG potential factor this year working against Bowles and that is Coen.
The team was willing to let Canales walk, but maybe not so much with Coen, especially when Bowles's contract is in the firing window and this season sort of mirrors the last one, albeit with injuries.
Will be interesting to see it play out because the Glazer's talk is Rooney-esque when it comes to things like stability and, in fact, that is one of primary words they use in praising Licht BUT the optics of potentially losing Coen could be a real game changer.
"Improvement" can have many meanings. It's easy to zoom in on playoff performance as the measuring stick. I see it differently. If I were ownership, I would be focusing on improvement on both sides of the ball and special teams. The obvious eye test shows dramatic improvement on offense despite injuries to a few key players. The defense on the other hand has had many more injuries and hasn't shown much progress since last season. Special teams remain so-so with the place kicker performing above average similar to last season. Overall there has been marginal improvement. I would make a change at HC, and focus on retaining and/or promoting the OC, bring in a proven DC, and focus on fixing the defense during the 2025 draft.
I see a lack of fire in this defense. Also a failure to improve on various levels, particularly at LB in coverage and on our DLine on the edge
it’s time for a major upgrade in personnel and coaching along with it. This team is t good enough.
I think it would be tough to fire a coach for going 10-7 if that's where we end up.they did? i tried googling but failed. is there any article to this with quotes?

Agreed. Unless you promote him.I think it would be tough to fire a coach for going 10-7 if that's where we end up.they did? i tried googling but failed. is there any article to this with quotes?

Yes. Promote him to defensive consultant and give him an office next to Arians.
Yes. Promote him to defensive consultant and give him an office next to Arians.
i mean that would be ideal but i see two main issues with that:
1- Arians was towards the end of this career where bowles probably got another 5-10 years in him, most likely as a defensive coordinator. Feel Todd still wants to coach.
2 - Arians signed a 4 year contract, coached 3 of them. Brady fired him so they made him a consultant for the final year. Bowles signed a 5 year contract so this would essentially put him in a make believe position for 2 years. Unlikely Glazers will want to pay that.
so improvement should be defined in the sense of going further 2 playoff wins. BUT...in terms of progress, the offense looks night and day and is vast improved over prior year. The issue there is...that is clearly Coen and not Bowles leading that effort.
Bucs go 10-7, playoffs or not, theoretically improvement with an additional regular season win. Given the schedule (Baltimore, KC, 49ers, Detroit, Philadelphia), as well as Godwin injury and dead cap money, would be pretty impressive, especially if Bucs make the playoffs.
Like i said, they make playoffs, it's more likely a Bowles statue is built outside Raymond James than Todd Bowles being fired.
and he's not my boy, i dont want to lose Coen either....but i also live in the real world.
Brady fired him so they made him a consultant for the final year.
Since you’re such a big fan of people providing quotes/links to stuff, I’m sure you’ll have no problem doing it here.
Amirite?
