3rd Bucs drive, we’re down 14-0 because the defense is getting annihilated.
That always gets ignored by the Red Board GM when discussing the Denver game.
Great post but I don’t know anyone that was saying Coen wasn’t a significant factor.
There is definitely one poster saying that, and taking it even further by saying Coen was holding the offense (and team) back.
Again being disingenuous. On Denver's 2nd drive the defense forced a 3 and out. Our offense then throws pick returned to the 9 yard line and you guys blame the defense. The offense had a -5.21 EPA in the 1st qtr!
you essentially acknowledged that Canales was in fact an offensive coordinator.
You said Bowles had a pathetic defense last year. It was ranked 16th in scoring.
Canales offense was 23rd in scoring.
Lefty's offense . . with the GOAT . . was 25th in scoring
And DH . .what you call
long winded rant, which is consistently devoid of any original thought and simply pasting quotes from coaches
is a bunch of external stuff (like quotes) that FURTHER backs up the point I am making.
I quote external stuff.
You quote . . BIGGS
Canales is a great coach, he's not the architect of some novel offense, like Coen.

Not shocked you moved the goalposts in such a disingenuous, yet predictable, fashion.
Sober up. Reread it. And, then try again.
Or, better yet, just move on (doubtful).
Canales was not an OC either, but he was a great coach and leader, still just mostly copying what he had seen (eg Godwin outside).
Re-read ...

What’s disingenuous about the defense giving up scoring drives in four out of the first six possessions with a rookie QB playing in his third NFL game? The second half wasn’t much better at 2/4 scoring drives.
Both units sucked that game, which is a knock on the HC not having his team prepared to play after a huge win the week before.
Baker ends up throwing deep to Evans on 3rdand 4 for an interception.

Funny when you read those sentences back to back. Dont often see "defense to blame" right after acknowledging the offense turned it over . . AND THAT LED TO the second of those two touchdowns, which is a drive that starts ON THE BUCCANEER 9 YARD LINE.
That drive starts on the 9 because Mayfield (not Coen) throws a terrible -- and i mean TERRIBLE - interception (rather than a first down to Godwin underneath) AT A TIME WHEN THE BUCS ABSOLUTELY NEED MOMENTUM.
team sport.
The Bucs go down two scores against the Broncos because:
Broncos DRIVE 1 -- Bowles reads too much Red Board
The Broncos go 75 yards in their first drive on the back of TWO explosives . . EACH ONE a pass play with . . . the CBs playing PRESS MAN. Dean plays lazy af man . . nothing new. And McCollum either thinks he has help he does not or he was sound asleep at the snap because he completely whiffs and give the WR a free release. The Bucs have Izien in at safety (no Winfield, Vea or Kancey in this game) playing single high and he's not even in the same area code.
if you look at the play IMMEDIATELY before the reception on McCollum, the Bucs play zone . . . the Broncos have a deep pass dialed so they are forced to abandon it, throw underneath. Tackle beore the LOG.
Boring, but effective
Bucs Drive 1 - Bucs PUNT after only aing two yards and only running 1:43
Broncos Drive 2 - Bucs defense stopes them 3 and out - PUNT
Bucs drive 2 - INTERCEPTION (described above . . . absolutely inexcusable in that game situation. Punt the ball is better. Throw it underneath to Godwin. Mayfield thrwos a tteerible pass INSIDE to a double covered Evans
Broncos Drive 3 -- starting at the Bucs 9 . . TD
The Bucs defense actually crated a turnover but it was nullified by a penalty (lined up offsides)
******************
Btw, the Bucs next two drives are punt and TOD
JC is 100% trolling on the Coen stuff, but its a team sport.
Coen should get credit for an offense that OFTEN started fast and got us in the lead, keeping his playbook wide open. BUT, that credit comes with some measure of blame too, like when the offense sh*t the bed early against the Broncos

I'm not trolling. Coen is the most overrated Bucs player or coach in franchise history. The jet sweep cost us a potential Super Bowl run. It went for -6 the week before.
Offense should be 50% Bucky and Tucker runs. As for people hyping up White's receiving skills, how do you defend this stat? When White had 2 or less targets the Bucs were 7-0 with 35 points per game. White is a complete detriment to the offense.
