Hopefully he can do so. It's now or never!
Also believe that because Trevor Lawrence is a vet - and his game lends itself to Coen’s schemes - Coen knows the NFL now and Jags will have a leg up on some of the other divisional competition because of these factorsObjectively speaking Coen is walking into the best situation in the AFCS to make a turn around. Titans are rebuilding, the Colts are in a state of transition and uncertainty. The Texans are the real true competition for the division title right now on paper. I like the Texans roster a tad bit more but the Jags are not that far behind.
If that Jags OL can protect Lawrence they can really push the ball around with the weapons they have at WR, TE and RB.
To me it comes down to whether they can protect Lawrence adequately. They’ve got the basics.
This. There is a difference between scheming and calling plays. So I have to ask the question before everyone thinks that Coen was the second coming of Christ. Wasn't an article just published that stated "Grizzard and Coen worked together on a lot of the schemes with the RB's and WR's? I don't think that you can't have one without the other and I think that Grizzard and his offensive Coaches will be put to the test but with good continuity. I don't give Coen anything without giving Grizzard his just rewards also. Sorry but it's still a total team effort and I still feel Coen will have issues in NC.
Scheming up plays is good, but that’s not only thing to being a play caller. The best ones have a knack to call the perfect play at the perfect time by anticipating what the defense is going to show them. Coen was pretty damn good at that. We will see if Grizzard has that same knack or not.
Hopefully it’s not that different!
@biggs3535 You're correct I made the mistake of saying NC, not Jacksonville. I do agree and did mean Jax is a dumpster fire.
He has the best offense of our last 3 OCs, 2 of which are hcs now.
i don’t see why not.
talk about a dream job for a first time OC.
One argument for Grizz
“Top-5 in all of success rate — EPA per play, points per drive and downside conversion rate — one of three offenses to be top-5 in all of those metrics,” Solak said of the Bucs offense.
“They were the best offense in the league in terms of third-down conversion rate. They converted on 50.4 percent of their third-down conversions despite having the 16th-most yards to go on third down. You might say, ‘Ben, that screams regression to the mean; that screams that’s going to come back down.’ But a fun nugget for you, new offensive coordinator Josh Grizzard … was the third-down guy last year! He designed the third-down offense; it was the best third-down offense in football! You go and you watch them in their designer stuff, their third-down and their red-zone situational football, I mean they are with gas cooking.”
