OK so I have argued that Licht should be retained or fired based on how good he is now, whether he's learned enough with all his experience to be a good GM now. Not based on his cumulative record. So now he seems to be in sync with the new coach and that's good. The GM and the coach are on the same page.
But that coach/GM relationship can get too cozy. Is the GM too much in sync with the coach to the point of doing whatever the coach wants? That isn't always good. We shall see as Saturday is the deadline to cut a player to get a comp pick. Will they keep Perriman or will they cut him to get back a comp draft pick? The coach is going to want all hands on deck. He's thinking about now, while the GM is supposed to keep some perspective on the long term plan and act accordingly even if he doesn't agree with the coach. Licht may have a chance to demonstrate some independent thinking by cutting Perriman. He didn't look too bad the last game, but still a mid-round draft pick would be even better. We shall see.
