The following players have no guaranteed money and no penalty if cut/or traded.Davin Joseph $6MJeremy Zuttah $4.5MMichael Koenen $3.3MDerek Landri $1.5MGabe Carimi $1.4MTotal savings $16.7M.The following are a bunch of no names and guys that aren't likely to stick around under the new regime. They make very little, but it adds up.Luke Stocker $650kAnthony Gaitor $650kMichael Smith $550kLeonard Johnson $550kDanny Lansanah $570kKelcie McCray $570kChris Owusu $570kScott Solomon $570kRashaan Melvin $500Skye Dawson $500kKa'lial Glaud $500kMichael Hill $500kMatt Masifilo $500kBradley McDougald $500kPatrick Omameh $500kRussell Shepard $500kMarc Anthony $420kMarvin Booker $420kEmmett Cleary $420kJace Daniels $420kTotal savings $10.4M.Add both those groups together and we could gain a total of $27.1M in cap space for a total of $37.3M. guess it isn't as bad as it sounds.

Problem with that second group is that even if you let them go, you need to back fill all those positions with similar level people and pay.  The top group should be as good as cut.

Well yes. Whenever you cut someone it creates a hole to be filled....but if you assume that Lovie will want to rid the roster of Schiano's "depth" and bring in his own players....then it is nice to know we could have almost $40M in cap space to do so. I mean look at WR for example. Owusu, Dawson, and Sheppard account for just $1.5M combined....but we can probably sign a solid FA receiver, draft one, and then bring in another el cheapo guy that fits what Lovie wants, and be 100x better off, for $4M. It's nice to know there will be some cap space there to play with and upgrade our sorry ass depth. That's all I am saying.

Paycut for Penn or he's cut.

Penn's average salary ranks 15th among OTs. He's already cheap. Really don't see any pay cut happening and we certainly aren't going to cut him. The problem with the O-line is on the interior, not the edges.

Agreed.  Just saying that $10.4 million is pretty much a sunk cost no matter what the names on that list are.  Maybe this year we get some non-Rutger players?

I could see both on this.  Wouldnt be shocked if they have him restructure or roll with him at his current price.  Very interested in seeing if they keep him on the left side or move Dotson over there.  If they move Dotson, Penn becomes a pretty expensive right tackle.

I get ya ComeOnMan. I guess I was just more concerned about being able to flip the bottom half of the roster when I saw the $10M number. I would love for us to go get Alex Mack and a DE....but outside of that I just want to see the new regime improve the depth on this roster. The Seahawks are a prime example of just how important it is to have great scouting and great depth on your roster. Literally half their team was taken in the 4th round or later. Many undrafted. Those 25 guys making $500k/yr are really important imo.

Absolutely.  You have to find mid-late round gems these days.  I would also love Mack and Allen, but Im guessing we probably get Allen and Tillman with reasonable deals.  I think Mack gets tagged.  Another name to keep an eye on would be Harvey Dahl.  He is a road grader at guard and likely a cap casualty in STL.

I like Jon Asamoah and Evan Dietrich-Smith. Both are OGs...Evan can play Center as well. I'd be pretty stoked if we could keep Zuttah and sign those two.

Can't replace the entire OL in one year and I think OG is a more pressing need so I could see them rolling with Penn with no changes until next year.  Might ask for some kind of restructure though if they feel he could eventually move down somewhere else on the line.

I like those guys as well.  I think Zuttah could stand for a slight paycut as well.  Even with moving him back to G, not sure he is worth $4 mil.  I think the one thing we can all agree on is Davin is as good as gone.

So you want to go buy two more starting OGs on the open market? Please, dear god, can we please start drafting OLmen again??

I dont think either one of those guys are going to be high priced.  I think we could cut Zuttah and Joseph and sign both those guys and possibly keep Meredith.  I still want to draft some as well.

I agree.  I was on that bandwagon.

Not if they are crazy expensive, but I don't expect them to be.Mack probably won't happen and probably shouldn't happen because of the price....but we don't have to make every OG we sign the highest paid player at their position. Joseph and Nicks combine for an average of $17M/yr and are the 1st and 5th highest paid OGs in the league. That is ridiculous. If we move on from Joseph and Nicks, we won't see all of Nicks' cap hit disappear this year, but we'd have an extra $8.5M and that would almost completely pay for Asamoah and Dietrich-Smith. I wouldn't think either guy should cost more than $5.5M-$6M/yr tops. Much better than Nicks' $9.5M/yr and Joseph's $7.5M/yr.We wouldn't see the full savings until next year, but the way I see it, replacing Nicks and Joseph with Asamoah and Dietrich-Smith would be an upgrade and save us around $7M/yr of cap space.
