Countdown to Cannons: No More Gilkey PleaseJustin Pawlowski    @CommishOnlineJuly 19, 2015Gilk1_Zpsgw2P6Twx.jpgWith 27 days to go, we countdown the days until the Bucs' 1st preseason game, and discuss a different Bucs player at length every day.For those that remember the classic movie "Billy Madison," do not be confused. The picture of Bucs' offensive lineman Garrett Gilkey is not the picture of O'Doyle, and he does not rule.Garrett Gilkey was acquired by the Bucs in 2014 after the Browns parted ways with him. Ties to Bucs offensive line coach George Warhop surely played a significant role in the marriage between the two sides, but the reason Gilkey was released by the Browns was made clear during his first game action for the Bucs.Gilkey started one game for the Bucs in 2014, and this is what happened:Th Vid Zps3Pheymjvvideo linkGilkey rarely blocked anyone during his only year with the Buccaneers. He was a big part of the Bucs offensive line being one of the worst units in the NFL.Versatility is always talked about as one of the more valuable assets in the NFL, but when your versatile enough to play multiple positions, but stink at each of them, are you really that versatile? Gilkey may be able to play both guard and center, but truthfully, the Bucs need to find better options if they truly want to improve such a subpar unit moving forward.
