Countdown to Cannons: Wright the Wrong?Justin Pawlowski @CommishOnlineJuly 23, 2015With 24 days to go, we countdown the days until the Bucs' 1st preseason game, and discuss a different Bucs player at length every day.He was on the roster bubble during training camp a year ago, and ultimately Tim Wright ended up being shipped to New England in a package that brough Logan Mankins to the Bucs. A year later, Wright is back with the Bucs trying to make the roster yet again.Wright entered the NFL as a tight end, despite playing receiver at Rutgers. He is a pass receiving threat, but does not offer much in terms of blocking. With the Bucs bringing in new offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter, a pass receiving threat at tight end might actually be a better fit this season for the Bucs than it was a year ago.Wright was stuck behind Rob Gronkowski in New England, but still put up 6 touchdown receptions on the season. For reference, that would have put Wright 2nd on the Bucs last season in touchdown receptions behind only Mike Evans.Wright can be a valuable weapon for an offense if used correctly. He's not a blocker and should not be asked to be one. Wright should be able to extend drives with clutch receptions on 3rd down, and be an added threat within the redzone. To get to that point, Wright must secure one of the Bucs' final roster spots with excellent play during training camp and the preseason.
