So many things to dissect on that play
The Play CALL - its 1st and 10. its a regular play in our arsenal and Wirfs gets out and seals his guy so decent gain coming
The EXECUTION - I read Mayfield's comments, but isnt the timing driven by the WR? The sanp is comong on its set timing, so McMillan sort of over runs it?
The RESULT - on 1st down Kancey has the QB for a loss but misses him. Then its Hayes. McLaurin run the same route the play before the TD so I wonder if they see how poorly Hayes is covering
terrible turning pointin the game
Agree on the fumble - a large part of this is timing & if I had to guess, JMac was a little early, but I think Barton may have been a bit slow as well, he looked to be struggling a bit with some snaps last night. Mayfield took the blame, he was part of it.
I thought it was a terrible play - I understand why we were doing it - but seems too much of a gamble at that spot on the field.
Would have been a nice gain if executed properly. The team shot themselves in the foot, no way around it.
retarded play call
Evans just has a play that boost the momentum our way
a simple fucking leftwich special HB dive with Bucky for 4-5 yards would have been fine
No, let's get cute in our own redzone. retarded
I don't love the call but let's face it... The team has been undisciplined and full of mistakes all year.
We're not a contender.

It looks bad because of the outcome. Re-watch the play-the edge was sealed and could have gone for a big gain. The execution of the play was retarded.

Agreed. The call was fine.

agree
I thought live it was abad call but watching the replay Wirfs gets out to seal it so its going to be a good one

talent wise we were not a contender. but we knew that heading into the year with our secondary and edge talent.
what was a present surprise this year was our top 5 offense in both passing and running game.
the future looks bright. Just need to build up that defensive talent....oh and that statue....
the future looks bright. Just need to build up that defensive talent
This is sort of the dividing line on the Red Board
And I totally get the Bowles angst, especially with Coen, but it would not surprise me if the Bucs see the other point of view which is that the Bucs defense LED by Bowles won a Super Bowl and has been top ten in SCORING most years
If -- and I know this is an "if" - but if you accept the premise that the cap issues has held back the defensive talent THEN . . well . . you would know your answer to whether Bowles was coming back . .
ASIDE FROM SOME EXTERNAL CONSIDERATION LIKE KEEPING COEN.
I say that because a very small infusion of talent and the defense is probably top 10 in scoring again and that isa. WINNING formula
we will all see soon enough!
that fumble was bad, but that botched snap that resulted in FG only put the final nail in the coffin!
timing yes, but I think Mayfield has to see when his receiver is coming through and snap the ball accordingly. I think it's on Mayfield. So many things to dissect on that play

it will take some time for both Baker and Barton to get over those plays.
im sure nobody on the team feels great but those were crippling and game enders.

Yeah, I think you nailed it. The one issue with Coen's offense is that it requires a lot of precision timing with all the presnap motion that has to be perfectly synced with the Center-QB. Baker has to send the Wr/TE/RB (whoever) in motion, then call for the snap on time, and then the C has to snap the ball on time. Doesn't seem like that big a deal, but in this offense it requires precise timing between all three pieces. And our C and the WR in question are both rooks, in their first year in one of the most complex offensive schemes in the league. Sometimes they make mistakes, as we've already seen throughout the regular season. And watching the first replay, I thought McMillan was a stride early, as White was earlier in the year when he caused a very similar fumble in a very similar jet-sweep type motion play by being early to the mesh point.
And it's even possible that Baker made a mistake here as well that could've compounded the issue. Regardless, whatever happened, it resulted in a very costly fumble/turnover.
And the moment I saw Hayes come into the game for Dean, I knew the secondary was in deep trouble.
