Simple if you think about it.
And, again, unnecessary.
Not to mention, something not wanted from the consumer.
Horrible music acts during the NFL draft is unnecessary. Merging with the AFL is unnecessary. Welcome to the NFL. The only thing that's necessary is making more money and adding to the value of franchises.Simple if you think about it.

Do we enjoy watching the Jaguars at 9 AM on Sunday morning while fans sing Sweet Caroline? Honestly, I'm not a big Neil Diamond fan. So no, this doesn't add anything to my personal enjoyment of the game.
But football is the best sport around. It artfully combines brute physical speed and force and will to win with the most sophisticated strategy by far of any sport. It truly is the greatest game on earth.
I give zero fucks about the economics. The NFL makes a killing as it is. From a fan standpoint these games are dumb. Why stop with Europe? Let's have a China team... That's a big market
I don't care about the economics either. I just mention it as the irresistible force
Use your imagination.
Or, just stick with playing games in the US.
publix should stay in Florida...
Most businesses chase the money. Some times it works sometimes it drags the business down
it's pretty easy to see one huge problem being a thinning of talent
something not wanted from TRADITIONAL US-based ...consumer.
substantial demand outside the US
Anyway, you'd expect the posters on this board - mostly huge fans with high football knowledge - to lean toward hating the idea.
completely understandable. And part of the challenge for the NFL. How to expand globally without alienating core US fans
Its a business. Paying the talent, paying the bills, earning a profit, requires an expanding revenue base.I give zero fucks about the economics. The NFL makes a killing as it is. From a fan standpoint these games are dumb. Why stop with Europe? Let's have a China team... That's a big market

In the old days the teams sold stadium tickets that defrayed some/most of the operational costs. Today that is incredibly negligible to the revenue stream. So, expanding the global add-buy revenue is central to their new model. However, it requires a presence in the market. My guess is that the current add-buy is offsetting most of the costs for games outside of the US.
Team/Brand sales is a stream, albeit likely a weaker stream, but a stream nonetheless. It’s going to be years before they build a viable global model… they need global revenue to offset domestic cost/profit. It’s their model for growth, and they know it will take time.
Its a business.
exactly
"Sources: NFL Eyes Multibillion-Dollar International Rights Package
- As the NFL expands its international schedule, it’s interested in building a rights package around those early games.
- This would likely add more than $1 billion in yearly rights revenue while extending the Sunday schedule."

How has the ELF done?
not the NFL
but probably somewhere is the ballpark of other NFL alternatives like XFL or UFL. I don't really follow so guessing.
NFL games sellout. That's why the NFL is envisioning a $1 Billion tv deal that woukd include expanded Sunday tv play in the US
FLORIO
"For the first time ever, an NFL team will play a pair of road games in two different European cities. It’s a sign of things to come.
Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the Vikings’ Week 4 game against the Steelers in Dublin followed by their Week 5 game against the Browns in London is trial run for the expanded use of multiple teams that will play in multiple European cities in consecutive weeks.
As soon as next year, there could be two or three teams that swap two traditional road games for a pair of neutral-site games in London and/or Dublin and/or Germany and/or Spain and/or elsewhere in Europe. (Sign me up for Bruges.)
In 2026, those teams would likely come from the AFC, which will have nine road games in the current 17-game eight/nine home/away rotation.
Eventually, look for four franchises to serve as the “road” team in (math is hard) eight European games.
It’s all part of the NFL’s current plan to expand the number of international games to 16 per year. Which will be the approach unless and until the NFL drops a franchise or two (or four) in Europe."

Great. That would result in unnecessary division realignments. And, I’m sure a litany of players would be ecstatic at the thought of transcontinental travel for all of their away games. Or, having to reside in Europe.
Let’s water this thing down, fellas!
Let’s water this thing down, fellas!
definitely a big risk
You will see a lot more Eli Manning and Bo Jackson situations where not just first overall but first rounders will not want to live in Europe and will sit out. This would be a time to start an XFL. When free agency hits players will take less money to come back to the U.S. Unless the NFL develops European talent, it may be hard to sustain talent.

This right here.
