One thing about hiring Bruce Arians, it is well known that he won't be coaching much past 3-4 years. I think the idea is Arians comes in, rebuilds a solid foundation then hands the reigns off to one of his assistants. If that is indeed the case, that means in effect, we are hiring two coaches right now.
There has been a lot of speculation that Bowles will be hired as the DC. I'm fine with him as DC, but do we want him to be the HC in waiting as well? I would rather have someone like Kris Richard as the DC and heir apparent. Not sure if he would be willing to wait 3-4 years for a HC position however.
Or maybe a hot new name on the HC side? Again same problem in Richard, who is talented enough to be a OC but also willing to wait 3-4 years for a HC position?
I expect either the OC or DC to be a fresh new face. Maybe a position coach Arians worked with in the past? Byron Leftwich?
