For those thinking it is impossible that Simmons makes it out of the top 5-8 picks I decided to show you how realistic the possibility is, what it would cost us to make a move and what the rest of our draft could look like.
1 QB Joe Burrow Bengals
2 DE Chase Young 'Skins
3 QB Tua Tagovailoa Dolphins (trade up)
4 OT Jedrick Wills Giants
5 CB Jeff Okudah Lions (trade down)
6 QB Justin Herbert Chargers
7 DL Derrick Brown Panthers
8 OT Tristan Wirfs Cardinals
9 Isaiah Simmons Bucs (trade up)
* Jags get OJ Howard, and a 3rd in 2021
2 - RB Jonathan Taylor
* Mileage and a few issues with squeezing the rock push Taylor down to pick 45. Taylor is a beast though, powerful as hell, amazing athlete. Ultra productive for 4 straight years. When you think about it, people really seem to be sleeping on the kid. Bucs make out like the Vikings did when they got Dalvin in the 2nd 3 years ago. Don't be surprised if Taylor winds up being the 2020s version of Adrian Peterson.
3 - OT Ben Bartch
* Still unclear whether he is a tackle or guard at the next level. No reason to think he can't continue to play OT and compete with Haeg right away. If Haeg does well and wins the job, Bartch would be the go-to backup across the OL, until Ben becomes a starter. I think Bartch will be rock solid from day 1 though. The only hang up is the level of competition he faced as a D3 athlete. He proved at the Senior Bowl, like Marpet did in 2015 that he is indeed a player in the NFL. Big time steal if he falls to round 3.
4 - *Trade* WR Julian Edelman
*With the youth movement taking place in New England, Bill accepts a 4th round pick for an aging Edelman who will fill in nicely as a 3rd option at WR for Brady and company.
4 - G John Simpson
*Depth signing and competition for Cappa. I also like Jonah Jackson l, but I'll assume he goes somewhere in round 3.
5 - DL Agim McTelvin
*Another Depth pickup, McTelvin has some skills and could develop into a nice starter when Suh moves on. Most years, he would be a 3rd rounder, but there happen to be quite a few DL prospects this year.
6 - RB DeeJay Dallas
*While the Bucs now have a great tandem in Ronald Jones and Jonathan Taylor, we still need a 3rd down back and Dallas could fill that role.
