Given our cap situation is Taylor Heinicke might be the guy, guy went 5-3-1 with a 2-4 Washington team and 7-8 last year. Put him on our team with our weapons he might take us to the playoffs and make some magic. Watched a lot of his games and he's a winner, but lacks all the physical traits you want from a high ceiling qb. He can probbably get you 25-10 TD/INT and 10 wins next while game managing for like 5mil. To think he almost took the WAS team to the playoffs until Rivera benched him for Wentz.
better option than Gabbert/Trask
Depends what the goal is. If we aren’t going to try and make playoffs, just go with Trask. Tyler H is not trying to make playoffs
to me it’s Brady, Carr, jimmy G or you intentionally tank for top pick
I'm not giving up a dime to get Carr from the Raiders. We need our draft capital.
So unless we are talking FA, I'll pass.
Heincke could be a solid signing and let Gabbert walk
Id have to watch more of Heinicke to weigh in on him... but assuming Heinicke is not the answer for a minute.. I think the Bucs have to pony up the picks for the future guy next year rather than hope we tank. just trade what it takes and gran Caleb Williams. Id say its worth doing that this year for Levis if he falls past pick 7 but the Falcons own pick 8 and theyre not going to trade with the Bucs. Raiders at 7 probably arent moving, they could go QB.. and going from 19 to 6 is too steep for Levis so its just not in the cards this year.. next year I think it will very much be in the cards.
Levis is only worth drafting if he falls to us... not worth trading up
Id disagree that Heinecke has the ability to take us to 10wins, if the defense can still be strong he reminds me alot of R.Fitzpatrick, his mobility, gaminess, and gives his wr's a chance. I wouldn't mind Levis if he falls but doubtful he does, someone is gonna fall in love with him.
Let me get this straight Brady gets us to 8 wins but we expect more without him or half recent guys like carr and jimmy g with potentially even a lesser talented team in 2023 and potentially a green OC like Mccardell who could be as bad as leftwich.

Exactly.
Hell, this was a 3-4 win team this year without Brady.

Great post. Brady single-handedly wins some games this year and if Brady isn't back the team has to re-tool

Donkey, I dont expect this Oline to be a trainwreck disaster like it was from the start - which is the main reason why Brady looked miserable. It wasnt just that we lost Jensen.. we started Goedeke at LG for 6 straight games - 100% of the snaps.. and he played 75% of the snaps in the 7th game (i think). and I dont expect D.Smith to follow up the worst season of his career with an even worse season if he plays LT at all. thats 7 games where we had no Jensen, Goedeke on the interior, with no Depth (stinnie out too). in 2023 assuming D.Smith remains at LT (id switch Wirfs to the left), and without accounting for new additions - we will have Smith, Leverett, Jensen, Mason, Wirfs + new OC and Hainsey, Stinnie, Goedeke as depth. yea im expecting 8 wins regardless of the QB. Last year was a train wreck on multiple levels.

I dont share this view. Draft picks arent precious as most of them go to waste. look at our last view. If levis was worth drafting, then hed be worth trading up for. imagine he were an awesome franchise QB, you think 6 years from now anyone is going to care about an extra first second it took to get him.
I definitely not saying Levis is Joe Burrow.. but Joey B is right when he said the bengals window is his career. the same can be said with Josh Allen, Mahomes, Soon with Lawrence, and many others.. when theyre that guy - the window wide open as long as theyre on the team. At some point we need to go get that guy - preferably next year with Caleb - but I do like the intangibles Levis has
No on Heineken. Too small.
Donovan smith and his 15m cap hit needs to go and agreed that Brady and Bucs were bad because of terrible oline play.
The reason Heinecke is a fit because he's cheap and can win. Wentz who has the better tools was putrid while Heinecke goes 5-3-1 against a tough NFC East. He doesn' pass the eyeball test but theres a certain it factor around those guys who know how to win that is always overlooked
Heineke definitely has the “it” factor. The commanders team overall just plays better when he starts. Wouldn’t mind him in a bucs uniform.
I know some probably won’t like it but I also wouldn’t mind bringing in Darnold as he is a free agent this year. There’s enough potential there I think you can at least bring him in on a cheap deal and let him compete. He had some good moments with the panthers and they just haven’t been a good team the past couple of years.
