Just like it was controversial to suggest in the preseason that White might give way to Irving, it was even MORE controversial last pre-season to suggest that there was an ARGUMENT that Evans was not a true #1 receiver because that role was often filled by guys who were the centerpiece of an offense, more like Godwin's role in most Bucs offenses. Evans is more of an (INCREDIBLY AWESOME) finisher.

No, I dont because the point is about the external PERCEPTION. This is why I have described it both times as an "argument."
I think Evans is a dominant HOF receiver.
I think Godwin's role and typical production are closer to what the external voices see as a Pro Bowl wide receiver.

I think Mayfield is a top 5 QB. I think the PERCEPTION is different.
Last year many people - me and you included, i think? - saw Mayfield's success as at least partially tied to Canales. This year no doubt many see it as tied to Coen, even though he is not throwing the passes. But, take his past and those factors and probably the INTs and he doesnt make it with those EXTERNAL voters.
Same problem for LVD. He should go to canton, but will he given SMALL MARKET, limited league awards that HOF voters look at and small market team? I certainly hope so but it would be unrealistic to say its NOT even in question. Some people had mixed feeling about brooks because his role was so different than some Urlacher or Lewis MLB. Crazy to me, but true.
