I’d say if Trask is willing to come back, and the price isn’t ridiculous bring him back…he’s spent time in the system and with a second year in it should know it inside and out and is a known commodity to the coaches and skill players are familiar with him.

Trask isn't coming back.  If he was he'd already have a contract extension.

You still haven't learned your lesson, eh? This may come to fruition, but you've proven you don't have any idea as to what will or won't happen on this subject:

As for the QB, if you are going with 2 QBs then Wolford is the one who stays because he can be here long term and Trask will not be here after this year.

I predicted early in the offseason that Trask would probably be traded on or before draft day and at the least he won't be on the opening day roster.   I made that projection because I felt the Bucs were building for 2025.  It seems now that the Bucs are making a serious run in 2024, but still the fact remains that Trask will not be here in 2025 so why should Coen spend time developing him and teaching the system to him?

Coen is obviously still in the assessment phase in this early stage of the preseason, but Wolford can stand by Coen's side for years to come getting used to the system.  Trask won't even be here next offseason to run plays in the OTAs or any of that.  The only reason to keep Trask around is insurance for a Mayfield injury, and that may be a good enough reason to keep him around.... or not.

But I guarantee Wolford won't be going anywhere.

Wolford was cut.

Presenting opinions as fact continues to be an issue. There is still a possibility he returns, but lolz @ "I guarantee Wolford won't be going anywhere"

i'd say it's more likely than not that the Bucs resign Kyle Trask

have we not learned how lazy Licht is when it comes to the back-up quarterback, he seems to like the consistency, reference Ryan Griffin, Blaine Gabbert, etc.

again, entirely possible they are bored and try someone else but given Baker's elite play in 2024, not sure why they would just roll with the guy whos been on the team the last 4 years and can have a spot start or two if needed.. Like i dont see what benefit we get by signing a veteran QB for more money and likely wants to start (but unlike trask actually has started in this league)

sign Trask for peanuts when nobody else wants him and spend the money elsewhere, preferably defense

Well, here's a little helpful hint that you can use for your your reference. Print it out and post it above your computer....

IF IT HAPPENED IN THE PAST, IT'S FACT.  IF IT IS IN THE FUTURE, IT'S OPINION!

Print it.  Post it.  Hope that helps.

Yes I was wrong about Wolford.  I thought he was the next Ryan Griffin, but they didn't seem to be concerned with keeping a veteran 3rd QB around and I'm really not sure why.  Perhaps Pratt will be that guy.  And in retrospect they could have gotten some kind of draft pick for Trask, but now they get nothing.

Your personal guarantee is useless and is only an uninformed opinion? Nice to have confirmation that it means nothing. Thanks for the heads-up.

You can learn your lesson and not get called out for saying stupid things, or continue on the path you've set for yourself. I'm fine with either.

Sure. I'll post my opinion and it won't be right every time. If it means nothing to you, you don't have to comment on it.  Or do.  Whatever floats your boat.

Wait?!

Are you telling me there’s ALREADY a developmental QB on the roster?!

So, why are you then a fan of drafting another one with our 3rd round pick?

It may be disappointing to some, but I'll continue on my current path until I die most likely.   Some people on this board don't want to post any of their own opinions and only want to criticize and judge others.  That's fine.  That's the path their on.  I've called them out on that, but that won't change either.  But if I'm wrong call me out.  I can't complain about that.

No.  I'm not telling you that.   Maybe rereading would help you with your comprehension. Was Ryan Griffin a starting QB?

Here's a fact (because it's from the past):  Licht has drafted 51 players from the 3rd to 7th rounds in his 11-year history.  None of those 51 picks in 11 years were quarterbacks.  Of course he's picked two QBs, Winston 10 years ago with the first pick of the draft and Trask at the end of round 2 four years ago.  I don't actually have a crystal ball, but if that was a form that was to hold true then he's about due this year or next to draft another one early in the draft, particularly because Trask's contract is up.

I'm NOT predicting it.  I'm not advocating for it.  I'm only saying don't be surprised if an early round pick goes for a QB.  I hope that's clear enough.  I don't know how I can make it clearer.

Trask isn't coming back.  If he was he'd already have a contract extension.

Outside of presenting your opinion as a fact, i.e. "Trask isn't coming back", the logic behind that opinion presented as fact is incorrect. Do I need to give you the list of Buccaneer players that were re-signed after last season ended? Do you really not know how this stuff works?

Trask may or may not be re-signed. But the fact that he hasn't signed a contract extension yet is pretty meaningless.

Using draft resources on a back up QB works for some teams. But the Bucs have Pratt who they were prepared to draft at some point and now they have him.  Just roll with Pratt and maybe sign a cheap veteran to compete for the #2 spot.

Another example is the Bucs just signed a CFL punter and will probably draft a punter late in the draft and let them compete.  No point in using higher draft resources for these areas of the team.
