Trask becomes a FA.
Trask will see if there is a market for him.
Trask then decides what is best for him.
Trask will probably be cheaper for the Bucs than any other FA QB out there.
It would probably be best for the Bucs to resign Trask since he knows the system.
If a team doesn't show interest with Trask I am all for the Bucs to re-sign him. So I really don't see the urgency to draft another QB, because the team has Pratt and they can re-sign Trask.

Agreed. We don't have a 44-year-old QB this time. There is no reason to draft a QB at this point, especially in a pretty weak QB draft.

Looking at this QB draft class and I'm underwhelmed.
Cam Ward on WSU was projected as a later pick... I think 4th or 5th round.
Now he's the consensus #1 overall? Hilarious...not that I don't like him. He always abused the Ducks. But first overall? Wut.
Sanders is a diva.
Ewers is a project and I think he will bust.
In fact I'd wager all of these QBs bust to some degree.
The Ol Miss kid Dart I like the most but we don't need him.
Grab Daniel Jones as a backup.
There will be a handful of QB jobs even if you assume Ward and Sanders will take two of them.If a team doesn't show interest with Trask I am all for the Bucs to re-sign him. So I really don't see the urgency to draft another QB, because the team has Pratt and they can re-sign Trask.
Free agent QBs are likely to be Fields, Darnold, possibly Levis, Winston, Lock, The Jones Mac and Dan. That's the level QB Trask is competing with and I don't think he's any worse than most of those guys. Fields will be a fit for certain teams. Darnold was exposed. Levis will be sent packing. And it only goes downhill from there. Trask can't be any worse than most of those guys. He's going to get a shot somewhere this offseason, at least a (real) competition somewhere.
If you love them set them free and they'll fly back to the nest! The list of Licht draftees who flew back to the nest after their rookie deal expired is about as long as the Jewish Sports Heroes pamphlet. There's a few Davis, Dean, Nelson. The list of those who didn't fly back is a lot longer - some were attracted to greener pastures like Cappa and Alexander, and many others were bought one way tickets like White and Winston. What about Trask? I don't think we really know if they truly want him back or not. We sure haven't heard much lately from One Buc on that. I'm sure we will here something one way or the other very soon.Trask isn't coming back. If he was he'd already have a contract extension.
Outside of presenting your opinion as a fact, i.e. "Trask isn't coming back", the logic behind that opinion presented as fact is incorrect. Do I need to give you the list of Buccaneer players that were re-signed after last season ended? Do you really not know how this stuff works?
Trask may or may not be re-signed. But the fact that he hasn't signed a contract extension yet is pretty meaningless.
I've admitted I don't have a crystal ball, but here's a possible news headline from this offseason:
"Bucs trade 7th round draft pick, reuniting Liam Coen with his former Fried Chickens starting quarterback."
I don't think we really know if they truly want him back or not.
Exactly.
Don't be surprised if the Bucs use a 3rd rounder on a QB.
What a stellar idea!
With all the actual needs we have, spending a 3rd rounder on a developmental QB would be a genius move!
We already did this stupid shit with Trask when we had Brady.
We have so many holes we cannot waste a pick on a QB.
Sign a vet and move along.
yeah that would be brutal.
we have a QB throw for over 40 tds in his prime and Trask is just fine as backup. Just resign him. Nobody else will offer him more than we are. Wasting any thought, time, picks, or cost to a backup QB would be ill advised
as per my last email....
I was wrong again. Surprised I got to this faster than Donk. I thought Trask would have some offers at a chance to "compete" for a starting job somewhere. Instead he came back here with his tail between his legs making less than the punter. If he's going out to eat with the guys and the punter says "I got this" he'll have to say "Thank you so much!"
For that paltry contract we can be sure that this was not about Trask wanting to stay in Tampa because he loves it here. It was because there wasn't any interest anywhere. I think his pocket passer style of play just doesn't fit what most present-day NFL teams want to do. Hence, I can keep my "Trask Force" name.
It's basically a freak thing that Neither Brady or Mayfield has missed a game. Trask will get his chance this year I suspect, if only for a game or two, because the way Mayfield plays he's bound to get dinged up, hopefully nothing major of course.

Another offseason, another lesson you'll refuse to learn.

the only thing fans are wrong about is overrating their favorite teams players
there’s only 32 franchises which means only 32 starting QBs. The NFL stands for not for long. It was never feasible to think a franchise, GM, or coach would hold their livelihoods at steak for a guy who has been in the league for 4 years and never seen material playing time. When you have first round pedigree QBs who have started significant games being treated like disposable garbage, what does that mean for a guy like Trask?
clearly it means his option were coming back to Tampa in the Ryan griffin role or out of the NFL getting into selling insurance business
